COURSE SCHEDULE AND TUITION/FUNDING – Cohort 10, 2014-2016
All teachers enrolled in the UEFP are also enrolled as AmeriCorps Members. Upon successful completion
of each year of service (teaching and service learning components) members will receive education award
vouchers to assist with tuition. AmeriCorps Education Awards are expected for both years of the
program. If federal funds are not available during the UEFP program, it is important that the applicants
clearly understand and accept the responsibility for tuition costs.
SCHEDULE:
Year One Summer, June – July
The six week summer school program is full-time Monday through Friday. Participants teach students in
the mornings and take course work in the afternoons. Six credits college course work (child development,
psychology of teaching and learning).
Year One Fall & Spring, August – June
Hired as a full time teacher in one of our independent private, parochial or charter partner schools.
Fourteen credits continued course work (reading/language arts, math, social studies, science methods,
culturally responsive teaching) one evening per week and alternate weekends.
Year Two Summer
Nine credits continued course work (health and movement, reading, action research).
Year Two Fall & Spring, August – June
Full time teaching in same school. Twelve credits continued course work (instructional strategies, action
research, culturally responsive teaching).
Final Summer
Seven credits continued course work (curriculum and assessment, teacher leadership).

Value of Tuition: 20 credits x $682, 21 credits x $709, 7 credits $737 = $33,688
Fellows pay 75%: 20 credits x $511, 21 credits x $531, 7 credits x $552 = $25,235
