Submit the UW System application, available online at: https://apply.wisconsin.edu. Send official transcripts from all post‐secondary institutions attended. Send official high school transcripts if you have not already earned your bachelor’s degree at the time you apply. If any Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate tests were taken while in high school and received a score of 3 or higher, a copy of your score report is required to be considered for college credit. Admissions Requirements The Transfer Admission Requirements state that are you are likely to be admitted in good standing if you have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or greater. A comprehensive review is completed and everything, including your applicant statement, is taken into consideration when a decision is made. Students indicating XXX Education will be admitted as a pre‐education major at UW‐Stout. "Pre‐Education" is the initial designation for all students interested in being a certified teacher through one of our education majors. Subsequent acceptance into a teacher education major and enrollment in professional education coursework will require successful completion of Benchmark I requirements. Additional information can be found at http://www.uwstout.edu/soe/current/praxisi.cfm UW Stout Graduation Requirements All students graduating from UW‐Stout must also meet Racial and Ethnic Studies as well as Global Perspective requirements. Students transferring from one of the UW Colleges having already earned their Associate of Arts & Sciences degree have these two categories automatically met. Students that have not completed their degree at the time they transfer will have to meet the requirements for the Racial & Ethnic Studies and Global Perspective areas identified below. UW‐Stout courses that meet these requirements are listed in the UW‐Stout General Education Requirements (choose GE/RES/GLP course list [PDF]) approved listings on page 7‐9. Students are encouraged to meet these requirements with courses that also apply to either general education or major requirements. Potentially a single course could apply to 2‐3 program requirements. Graduation requirements continue on page 2 Page1of5
Racial & Ethnic Studies (RES): Six credits are required with a minimum of three credits from the Category RES‐A course list. The remaining three credits may be from either the RES‐A or RES‐B course list. At the UW Colleges courses that may meet some of these requirements are listed with the ES (Ethnic Studies) designation. Courses that may apply to this requirement are courses that transfer as equivalencies to courses listed in the UW‐Stout General Education Requirements (choose GE/RES/GLP course list [PDF]) approved listings on page 7. Global Perspective (GLP): Completed by either completing a program of university‐approved work or study abroad, or completing six credits of courses approved as fulfilling the global perspective requirement. Courses that may apply to this requirement are courses that transfer as equivalencies to courses listed in the UW‐Stout General Education Requirements (choose GE/RES/GLP course list [PDF]) approved listings on page 8‐9.  Requirements: Course and “other” requirements described here are in the Undergraduate Bulletin. They are
also shared in ECE-100 Introduction to Early Childhood Programs, posted on official bulletin boards, shared
mailings, and advisement meetings. Students are responsible for knowing/meeting all program requirements.
Program related questions should be directed to Faculty Advisor or Program Director.
 Special Note: All transfer students must meet with their faculty advisor or the program director by the end of
their first semester in the ECE program. Bring all transcripts from other schools and transcript evaluation done at
UW-Stout. Transfer students must meet the minimum grade requirements as set forth by the ECE program for
every course. If you took a class at another college and received a grade lower than the program requirements,
the course must be repeated.
 Course Substitutions: Protect yourself. Please do NOT make assumptions about one course substituting for
another. There is an official process for processing course substitutions. See your faculty advisor. Complete all
paperwork for substitutions promptly; otherwise the degree progress report will be inaccurate.
 Benchmark Requirements: Benchmark I, II and III must be met prior to Graduation. Information on these
Benchmarks can be found on the School of Education Website (www.uwstout.edu/soe).
 First Aid Requirement: Demonstrate proficiency in American Red Cross First Aid procedures and
Infant/Child/Adult CPR, either by verifying current certification or by satisfactory completion of HWF- 340
Community CPR, Automatic External Defibrillation and First Aid.
