using the Transaction Evidence System to establish advertised rates. The Appraisal Module has an individual price
for each species and product. The representative prices shown here are only for general information. For example,
Black Oak was chosen below to represent oak sawtimber prices, whereas, prices are often higher or lower for other
species in the Appraisal Module.
211 - Base Period.
Zones 1 & 2: 3rd Qtr. FY00 thru 2nd Qtr. FY01. Zone 3: 3rd Qtr. FY99 thru 2nd Qtr. FY01. Zone 4: 3rd

212 - Effective Date. September 6, 2001
213 - Special Instructions.
Volumes - Since October 1, 1997, sawtimber and all other products are being appraised, advertised and sold in
hundreds of cubic feet (Ccf) units. Sawtimber, boltwood, and post volumes are also being shown in thousand board
feet (MBF) units, and small roundwood, pulpwood and cordwood volumes are also being shown in standard cord
(Cd.) units for information purposes along with Ccf in sale prospectuses and advertisements. Cubic volumes are
from the National Cruise Program. Conversion factors for incidental volumes not requiring the National Cruise

221 - Adjustments to Base Period Prices.
221.1 - Market Adjustments: (Line 7, R9-2400-17) - The following market adjustments may be made on any
sale. A good review of local market conditions should be made to determine if any adjustments are needed.
Significant overbidding on sales sold across the Forest or Zone may indicate the need for positive
adjustments.

221.2 - Logging Adjustments: (Line 9 & 10, R9-2400-17).
1. Felling and Bucking: Reference FSH 2409.22, this MTNF Supplement, Page 5 of 9, Table 1, used for
All Products on Mixed Product Sales.
2. Skidding: Reference FSH 2409.22, this MTNF Supplement, Page 6 of 9, Table 2, All Products on Mixed
Product Sales.
3. To compute logging cost adjustments the total volume in Ccf must be used to obtain average volume per
tree and per acre.
4. The maximum adjustment without the Regional Forester's approval is:
Fell-Buck = $ 3.00/Ccf ($ 5.00/MBF)
Skidding = $ 9.00/Ccf ($15.00/MBF)
221.3 - Risk Adjustments: (Line 38, R9-2400-17). The maximum risk adjustment, without S.O. approval will be:
1. Sawtimber
- 10%
2. Post, Pulpwood & Boltwood
- 5%
Only the following type of risk adjustment will be considered:
1. Abnormal Risk: This includes unusual contract requirements like unusally high road construction costs,
restrictive logging requirements, and highly defective timber.
