Discipline/Adverse Action authority is delegated to you for the (specify the Forest or Area).
You are delegated this authority for all General Schedule through GS-12 and Wage Grade
positions. The authority is to be exercised in accordance with the policies and procedures
specified in Forest Service Manual and Handbooks, Federal Personnel Manuals, other
appropriate manuals and directives and Regional Office guidance.
1. Delegation.
This authority includes termination of probationary, term and temporary employees; Letters of
reprimand; issuance of formal performance improvement plan; and (include the following Phase
as appropriate) minor suspensions (14 days or less); major suspensions (15 days or more);
demotion or removal for cause; demotion or removal for unacceptable performance. Letters of
decision to demote/remove for unacceptable require concurrence by the Regional Office.
2. Special Provisions.
a. You may not exercise this authority for any position which is in a direct line of
supervision above you.
b. When exercising this authority, you will sign all correspondence and personnel
actions over the title "Employment Officer."
c. This delegated authority will remain in effect until it is withdrawn in writing, until
you leave the jurisdictional area to which you are currently assigned, or until you
leave personnel management.
d. This authority may not be redelegated.
