1950.42 LIMITATIONS ON ISSUANCE OF DIRECTIVES
1950.42a – Field Line Officers
The Forest Supervisor, as the responsible official, re-delegates to the District Ranger the
responsibility of scoping, conducting environmental analysis and documenting (including
Decision Memos/project files if required) the results for all proposals involving their Unit,
whether or not they are delegated the authority for the decision.
Delegation of Authority Related to Approval of Timber Sales
District Rangers are delegated authority to serve as the responsible official for NEPA compliance
for projects involving timber sales up to the volumes listed in the following table. As the
responsible official, these individuals are delegated authority to make and implement a decision
on a proposed action (36 CFR 220.3). This delegation is to the named individuals and may not be
re-delegated.
