District Rangers may also approve Gates 1-3 Certification Reports for sales of any volume or value. This authority cannot be delegated to staff. Emergency sales (CFR 223.81 and 223.11) authority cannot and is not delegated to District Rangers. Emergency sales require Regional Forester’s approval. Assumes a conversion of 1.782 CCF/MBF. District Ranger may delegate authority to coordinate timber sale projects to individual subordinates (staff officers below the District Ranger), by name and in writing, to act for that them within the limits of their authority. NEPA Deciding Officer authority is for an individual timber sale. District Rangers may approve multi-sale decisions as long as individual sales in the decision do not exceed the authority specified above. This authority cannot be delegated to staff nor will ranger authority extend to other districts. District Rangers may further delegate authority for special forest products to qualified “Forest Officers” for charge and free use permits; up to the total amount of authority delegated. Per R4 Supplement 2400-97-1 the maximum authority that can be delegated to District Ranger is $5,000. District Ranger sales of unique forest products to limits shown requires written approval from the Forest Supervisor. Per 36 CFR 223.8 (01/04/06) the maximum authority that can be delegated to District Rangers is $200 in value. Per R4 Supplement 2400-97-1 the maximum authority that can be delegated to District Rangers is 20 MBF. This equates to 35 CCF assuming a conversion of 1.782 CCF/MBF. Per R4 Supplement 2400-97-1 the maximum authority that can be delegated to District Rangers is $500 in value.
