53.1 - Responsibilities of the Authorized Forest Service Officer
7. Submit three sets of drawings and specifications for buildings to be constructed on
National Forest system land by special-use permit to the Forest Supervisor for review and
approval prior to any construction being started. Forward drawings and specifications (stamped
by an engineer or architect in the state where the project is located) for special-use permit
buildings for public use to the Regional Forester for review and approval by the Director of
Engineering.
8. Forest Supervisors must review proposals for non-public single family, summer home
cabins or minor buildings for criteria such as size, height, materials, operational, and appearance
as established by Forest Service. Forest Supervisors shall not review proposals of these
structures for compliance with codes or structural adequacy. Regional Forester reserves the
authority to waive requirement for preparation of drawings by licensed individuals for these
facilities.
