Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Teach courses in Content Development and New Media for the Web. Develop meaningful learning experiences and assignments/assessments, consistent with an outcomes based approach to education. Provide constructive and timely feedback to students on their performance, revealing strengths and weaknesses for improvement.
In the Content Development course, guide students in exploring the emerging career paths for professionals who develop written and visual content for the web. Media to be examined in the course include: video tutorials and promotional videos, illustrative and interpretive photographs, infographics, social media applications, and written content. Content management tools and systems are also explored.
In the New Media course, assist students in exploring how new media is a driving force in the globalization of culture and ideas. Major topics to be examined in the course include: the emergence of new media and the evolution of legacy media; how new media influences how we conduct business, develop relationships, and define community; how new media imparts an ever increasing immediacy to communication and extends media’s reach into new realms; how the unprecedented speed and connectivity aspect of new media fosters socio-cultural movements as it empowers individual voices.
Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
Qualifications
Requires prior experience teaching media, design, or communication related courses.
Requires the ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment. Dependability is a must.
Experience mentoring, supervising, or teaching students in a class environment or colleagues in a work environment.
Experience using creative applications in the Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as experience using social media applications and content management systems for professional purposes.
Education
A M aster’s degree in media, communication, design or a related field is required.
