Character Education Conference

DESCRIPTION:
Persons participating in the Character Education Conference may earn 1 graduate credit. They will
write a 2-3 page reflection on how the keynote sessions and breakouts contributed to their thinking
about character education and social-emotional learning and also address how they plan to work in
their school and/or classroom in the next year to promote practices that will build a positive culture
for learning and support their students’ growth as whole persons.
OUTCOMES
Participants will:
1. Make clear connections between key points of presentations and their application in
the participants’ school settings.
2. Set meaningful goals for improving their own practice in working with students and school
staff to support positive school culture.
3. Read What’s Under Your Cape: SUPERHEROES of the Character Kind and then design or
modify 2-3 lesson plans to incorporate character education. You will receive a copy of the
book at the conference.
The reflection papers will be due on or before July 15th.
One graduate credit will be offered to conference participants through Alverno College
at a fee of $130. Please see registration form on next page.
