5. Helpful Hints

Feature
Description
Networking
Recommend using tool on wired networks for greater reliability to avoid failures due to
excessive retries and timeouts.
Firmware Update
After the firmware update progress reaches 100%, the change to task status may be delayed
until the reboot occurs.
Devices must have compatible firmware versions described above. Apply the necessary
firmware updates using this tool, before configuration management is attempted.
Get Configuration runs in the background. When it completes, an overall status screen pop-up
is displayed and the device status is also updated.
Configuration
After successful configuration or firmware update, a reboot is automatically performed. The
device will be inoperative for a few minutes after reboot. The device should be deleted and
rediscovered to refresh its database record if further configuration or firmware update is
desired.
Configuration update works only for similar model and array configurations.
Certain configuration updates may require 20 minutes or more to complete.
If configuration failures occur, possibly due to expiration of retries and timeouts, reduce the
number of target devices and/or concurrently running tasks.
User Guide
The user guide notes certain limitations, special instructions, and makes distinctions between
configuration “Apply” and “Replace” settings.
