Siemens cage design 3EK surge arresters for medium
voltage are now also available with LD-class 2. The 3EK7
with LD-class 2 is the first choice for protection against
power surges in any medium voltage distribution system
from 3 kV to 60 kV.
and therefore prevent ejection of parts in the event of
overload. At the same time, the electric arc can escape
directly via the flexible silicone housing which is vulcanized directly onto the active part. This means that high
pressure can not build up in the case of overloading.
The LD-class 2 will be achieved by special metal oxide
varistors with a significant high long duration current
impulse capability (550 A/2 ms). The innovative cage
design ensures outstanding performance in safety issues.
Fiberglass-reinforced plastic rods provide high mechanical
strength and optimized performance-to-weight ratio.
They enclose the metal oxide blocks firmly and securely
The silicone housing is highly resistant to environmental
pollution of all kinds, so the 3EK7 with LD-class 2 is
perfectly suited for all environments. Silicone is dirt- and
water-repellent and the direct-molding-technology
reliably prevents the penetration of moisture. The arrester
retains its outstanding properties over the entire long
service life of the arrester.
