This course is intended for landscape architects, architects, and site engineers to provide them with information on the typical code provisions that are issues in design and to give them an idea of the anticipated major changes to come in the upcoming new edition of the NYS Codes. Laura M. Cooney, RA/AIA Ms. Cooney has over 13 years of experience in architecture, project management, and code training. Her architectural experience consists of health care & commercial facilities and some residential projects. While she still practices architecture, her main focus is now codes. As a code trainer, she has successfully designed and presented several programs covering code training for the transition to the new codes in NYS geared toward design professionals, facility personnel, contractors and owners in NYS. She has also developed many custom courses for individual firms and organizations around the state. Laura is a NYS Certified Code Enforcement Officer, as well. The triennial requirement for 36 hours of acceptable continuing education will be prorated at the rate of 1 hour of continuing education per month starting with January 1, 2007. For example, if your registration is due for renewal in February, 2007, you will need to have completed 2 hours of acceptable continuing education. The New York Upstate Chapter of ASLA and SUNY ESF are providing you with an opportunity to earn 2 hours of continuing education on Friday, February 23, 2007. The course, "NYS Building Code Anticipated Changes & Site Provisions" will run from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and be taught by Laura M Cooney, RA/AIA. Ms. Cooney has over 13 years of experience in architecture, project management, and code training, and has specifically designed this course to prepare landscape architects and related design professionals for the transition to the new building codes in New York State. The course is an AIA CES course under the Health, Safety, & Welfare (HSW) topic (as it will cover codes); it should be applicable to site engineers and architects, as well as landscape architects (HSW credits are also considered acceptable for PDH credits in NYS). In addition to this continuing education course, there are several other exciting events scheduled for February 23 at SUNY ESF.
