The USDA Forest Service, Forest Health
Protection (FHP) sponsors AS2M annually, hosted
this year in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Course Objective:
Combined with on-line prerequisites, AS2M provides
all necessary coursework to qualify students for
“Fixed-Wing Flight Manager – Special Use”
AS2M is designed specifically for resource specialists
who manage aircraft to safely conduct missions
including aerial sketch mapping, photo/remote
sensing, wildlife and vegetation surveys, and aerial
reconnaissance in general.

and Management, 2) Conducting a Mission, 3)
Aviation Administration and Policy.

Review, A-205/305 Risk Management I & II, A-302
Personal Responsibility and Liability, A-303 Human
Factors in Aviation, A-307 Aviation Policy and
Regulations, and A-310 Overview of Crew Resource
Management.
Fly into Denver International Airport (DEN)
FHP-specific curriculum including: Accident and
Incident Review, Flight Plans/Following and Dispatch
Operations, Selecting the Right Aircraft, Aircraft
Instrumentation, Meteorology and Flying Weather,
Mountain and Canyon Flying, Airspace Coordination,
Federal Aviation Regulations, and Operations.

Hampton Inn is ~30 miles from DEN. The hotel
does not have an airport shuttle but does have a
free shuttle available for local transportation in and
around Denver. Airport transportation is available
for $60 round trip through Supershuttle

Registration and Additional Information:
Register for AS2M on-line through the Interagency
Aviation Training website www.iat.gov. Space is
limited to the first 30 students that register by
February 22, 2015.
Additional information, including required prework,
will be emailed to students after registration closes.
