Lessons Learnt:
•
Pick the low hanging fruit first when it comes to Energy Efficiency i.e. Lighting etc.
•
Do your research before deciding on final step. Best to slow down at times. Univ of Stel.
•
Look at project holistically, include roof repairs, waterproofing, strength of structures, elect
etc.
•
Shareholders support solutions that are feasible and sustainable to the business.
•
Communicate with tenants and get their buy-in.
•
Tenants have approached the Waterfront with regard to the installation of Solar Panels on
their respective buildings i.e. Allan Gray.
•
Make public aware of your sustainable projects and educate staff.
•
Transfer of skills to maintenance team. Let the Installer do the maintenance for first 24
months.
V&A Waterfront
Maintenance/challenges.
•
Get buy-in from the Sea gulls (owners/landlord) for use of their roof space. Currently only
affecting 2 roof areas, the problem is being addressed.
•
Take maintenance seriously as this has an impact on savings .
