Chief Executive Officer
Water for People, 2007 – 1/2009
As CEO I developed a multifaceted outreach strategy to build capacity and visibility of this NGO as an innovative thought leader and provider of proven, sustainable solutions to the water and sanitation, health and hygiene challenges of communities in the developing world. This strategy involved implementation of fundamental changes in operational models and methodology:
•
Recasting the organization’s vision from that of a charity-based model to an economic development model, and establishing the multi-year corporate partnerships to provide economic sustainability for in-country programs and general operations.
• Initiating a global systems integration and automation program that enables a seamless, web-based platform for finance, resource development, and program.
This platform allows scalability of programs and operations to match increasing demand; permits business in any country to be conducted in real time, language, and currency; facilitates impact-based reporting.
•
Integrating the core values of impact-based philanthropy into daily operations and program development. Increased fund development 25% per year, implemented first matching gift program, leadership fellowship program.
• Transitioning to a matrix style of management that increases internal leadership and accountability, identifying best practices and core business criteria for outsourcing of services.
