renaissance
Lecture and discussion presented by Andrew Kellett
Monday, April 4, 2016
2-3:15 p.m. | Student Center, Room 243
The Harlem Renaissance was a flowering of AfricanAmerican culture – literature, art, and music – in the
1920s and early 1930s. Participants in this cultural
movement, however, did not speak in a single voice,
with a single message, toward a single audience. Learn how tensions and disagreements could foster
debate and creativity, and explore its international
cultural influence.
