UCCS Construction Documents University Center AV Integration February 8, 2012 SECTION 27 00 60 TRAINING PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 SUMMARY A. This Section defines training requirements for the various communications systems. 1.02 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS A. Trainer/Instructor 1. 2. 3. B. Schedule and Location 1. 2. 3. 4. C. The Instructor leading the training session(s) shall be a qualified and experienced trainer. Where the Contractor does not have a qualified and experienced trainer on staff, the Contractor shall arrange to have appropriate Manufacturer Representative(s) lead the training session(s). The Contractor shall have the Project Manager and/or Foreman present during the training session(s) in order to assist the Instructor by providing “hands$on” operational knowledge of the installation and operations of the systems. For complex/sophisticated equipment, the Contractor shall arrange to have the appropriate Manufacturer Representatives present during the training session(s). The date and time of the training sessions(s) shall be coordinated with and approved by the Owner and Engineer. The Engineer may attend the training session(s) at the Engineer’s discretion. The training sessions(s) shall occur within one month of Substantial Completion, unless otherwise approved by the Owner. Training session(s) shall occur at the site, in order to provide the participants with “hands$ on” experience. Training may not necessarily occur in contiguous periods, depending upon the needs of the Owner (e.g. if a total of 8 hours of training is required, depending upon the needs of the Owner, it may be that two 2$hour periods and one 4$hour period spread across several weeks may be necessary). Follow$up Training 1. Unless otherwise noted, provide one follow$up training session during the Warranty Period, scheduled at the request of the Owner. The follow$up training session shall occur after the Owner has had the opportunity to fully operate the system(s). The Contract shall not be considered complete until training has been completed. PART 2 MATERIALS 2.01 GENERAL A. The final version of the O&M Manual(s) shall be used as the primary training aid. B. Training materials and presentations shall be professional in appearance, organized, bound, and suitable for re$use by the Owner in the future. Provide training materials to each participant, plus an additional 10 copies to the Owner for future use. Training materials shall be provided on CD$ ROM in addition to hardcopy. The Contractor shall provide training on the proper operation and routine maintenance of the various communications systems. Training shall include “hands$on” demonstrations. B. Training shall not commence until the communications system(s) are complete, tested, and fully operational. 3.02 TRAINING A. Provide training for each system as follows: 1. Audiovisual i. Training Session(s) 1) 2) Schedule training sessions to occur after the system is Substantially Complete but prior to Acceptance Testing. Provide a total of 3 hour(s) of training, broken out approximately as follows: a) b) 3) ii. Overview of the Audiovisual System and Warranty process: 1 hour(s) System control: 1 hour(s) After Acceptance Testing, update the training materials to reflect any issues, configuration changes, etc. resulting from the Testing.
