BHSU launches new marketing initiatives
BHSU has some exciting new marketing initiatives. We hosted a Ski Day at Great Bear Ski Valley in Sioux Falls over the
New Year’s weekend and are hosting additional events at Terry Peak here in the Black Hills. Numerous sponsorships with
local and regional schools and community organizations are also ongoing. Below are a few upcoming sponsorships and

Campus Energy Tour
Jan. 20 | 3pm | Student Union Lobby
Join the BHSU Sustainability Committee for a campus energy tour on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 3pm. Meet at
Student Union Lobby. We will go behind the scenes of the Student Union and Facilities Plant to see first‐hand how we
heat and cool our campus, including the underground tunnels. Ask questions and learn how we are working toward
improving efficiency on campus.

featuring a conversation with BHSU student Allan Gonzalez. The pre‐recorded, one‐hour show will be broadcast 10 a.m.

Veterans‐Black Hills VA Health
Alisa Birkholt, VA Black Hills Transition Patient Advocate assigned to the OEF/OIF/OND Care Management Team will be
on campus the last Monday of each month starting January 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Student Vet Center.
Her services are available to all veteran students and faculty. She can assist you with:

charges, make sure you check Current Activity ‐‐ while your refund was being processed your cost difference may not be
reflected in your refund, you may now owe. Upon still owing, make sure you take care of the bill by January 21st, you
can pay by:

Free Leadership Development Class: Sign Up Today
Trump Conference Room
The Leadership Development Series was created as an opportunity for students to gain valuable training and skill
development in a variety of leadership areas. Each workshop will focus on different aspects of leadership and personal
development. The series sessions will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 3:40 p.m. in the Trump Conference Room. The same
information will be taught at both classes. Wednesday Dates: January 27th – March 2nd. Thursday Dates: January 28 –

Geek Speak is Back!

Please join us this Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in Jonas 110 for Professor Ann Porter's lecture, "Stuffies, Sex and the
Contemporary Counter‐Reformation." This presentation will use visual images to investigate the idea of a contemporary
Counter‐Reformation. Like the Counter‐Reformation initiated by the Catholic church to guard against the perceived
heresy of Protestantism, so the cultural conservatism of the 1950’s, when challenged by the explorations of the 1960’s,
created a conservative backlash that is still with us today. Examples of this phenomenon will range from Lassie, Barbie
and Willem de Kooning to Hello Kitty, Mike Kelly and Furry Conventions.
