At Friday's basketball games we will be having our Military Appreciation Night. All current service members, retirees, and veterans are
invited and will get in free to the game. The women's game tips off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.

Kenadi Night/Hot Pink Out
The BHSU is hosting a "Hot Pink Out" basketball night Saturday, Feb. 6 in support of the Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation. Those
attending the BHSU women's and men's basketball games that evening are encouraged to wear hot pink in support of Kenadi Jean
Basketball Night. The Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation supports an annual scholarship for a BHSU special education student. The women's
game tips off at 4 p.m. followed by the men's at 6 p.m.

1098T Educational Tax Credit Information
If you or your parents are doing your taxes and have not yet received a copy of your 1098T Tax Credit Information you can obtain a
copy of that by going to www.ecsi.net/1098t and clicking on the student tab. The first box you will need the school code which is GZ.
The next box you will insert your social security number and the last box if you click on help logging in, ECSI will provide you with the
pin number for this box. When you have all boxes filled you will be able to view and copy your 1098T.
If you have any problem you can call ECSI at 1‐866‐428‐1098.
BHSU does not give personal tax advice. Parents and students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the tax benefits and
consult, if necessary, with their personal financial advisors or the Internal Revenue Service for assistance in determining their
eligibility for the education credits

The Yellow Jackets Society for Human Resources Management invites you to join us on Thursday, February 11th for an interactive
session to learn how to better represent your “brand” presented by Marla Barnard.
This event is taking place at the Joy Center on the BHSU Main Campus in Spearfish. A social will be at 6 PM and the presentation will
begin at 7 PM.
Marla Barnard brings over 20 years of Human Resources experience and has worked in that capacity at the senior executive level for 4
Fortune 100 companies. Her background includes working for energy and trading (Panhandle Eastern/Duke Energy and Enron),
telecommunications (Time Warner/Comcast), financial services and manufacturing (Fiserv) companies. Marla also spent 7 years as
Manager, Community Relations for Panhandle Eastern. Barnard most recently had her own HR consulting business, worked for Right
Management Services as a career management coach and is currently providing executive and career coaching services to managers of
all levels.

Listen in to the BuzzFM 89.1 radio or live streaming at BHSUmedia.com for a one‐hour Multicultural Mosaics show on Germany
featuring a conversation with BHSU student Bianca Hutzler. The pre‐recorded, one‐hour show will be broadcast 10 a.m. on Sundays
(Feb. 7, 14, 21) and 6 p.m. Wednesdays (Feb. 10, 17, 24). Multicultural Mosaics is supported through the University Multicultural
Committee and the Mass Communication program at BHSU.

Valentine's Singing Grams!
Do you want to serenade your Valentine? The BHSU Concert Choir is giving you the opportunity to share a special song with your
Valentine! A small group will perform a very short love song to anyone of your choosing and give them a flower. (You do not get to
choose the song.)
This will only take place on campus, so plan accordingly. We will sing these on Friday, Feb 12. A Singing Gram costs $10. Shoot us an

Be 1 of the 2%: Join the New Honors Program
The University Honors Program invites applications for its new competitive track emphasizing undergraduate research and creative
activity. Students will complete two Honors colloquia, an Honors capstone project, and the capstone defense to graduate as a BHSU
RESEARCH SCHOLAR. Spots are competitive and limited.
Apply by March 1 with an application portfolio consisting of an application essay, an unofficial transcript, a writing sample from your
major/minor, and the name of a faculty sponsor. The essay should address why you wish to join the program and detail your current
research/creative interests. Deliver to Meier Hall 311 or Dr. Huse Wika's mailbox in Jonas 108.

WHERE: Meet at Big Hill Trailhead (8 miles south of the Wildlife Sanctuary on McGuigian/Tinton Road).
WHO: Faculty, Staff, Students, Family Members, Pets on Leashes,
WHY: Because getting outdoors in nature is fun, healthy, and cures cabin fever! Plus, there is free hot cocoa.
HOW: No pre‐registration required. Just show up, check in with Chris at the trailhead, check out some gear and a map, and go give it
a try. Some Outdoor Ed. students will be available to give tips or to take groups out if you are unfamiliar with the area. PLUS there'll
be some hot cocoa at the trailhead. This is a low‐key FREE event. We hope to see you up there!

Spearfish Jacket Zone Wins Contest
The Spearfish Jacket Zone was the winner of two play tickets at the Matthews Opera House. On January 9, 2016, MOH held a
Scavenger Hunt and distributed clues to their mystery at 12 downtown locations. As folks brought in their answers to the mystery,
they were also asked to vote for the business that they thought participated the most in the event. The Jacket Zone received the
most votes. The store hid the clues throughout the store, and had the participants hunt for them, making it even more fun for
everyone. Many of the participants had not visited the store before so this was a great way to bring them in and have them look
around!! Thanks to all who participated and voted!!

The Black Hills State University Underground Campus at Sanford Underground Research Facility was featured recently in
Symmetry Magazine, an online publication about particle physics.

Black Hills State University is ready to kick off its spring musical season. A variety of concerts, events and competitions with
various genres of music are scheduled throughout the semester, and BHSU music faculty say there is something for everyone.
