Principal’s Message
As the cold weather approaches it
is important to remind your son or
daughter to bundle up to make
sure they are comfortable during
outdoor recesses. Checking the
weather in the morning is a great
routine to establish before getting
dressed for school.
During the day and after school we
have many visitors to our school.
All visitors must check in at the
office. This is board policy and this
practice must be observed to
ensure the safety of our students
and staff. Visitors who have not
signed in at the office must not
enter any area of the school. Your
help in making our school safe is
greatly appreciated.
Parking Lots – The main parking
lot at Waverley is off limits to
parents dropping off and picking
up students before and after
school. The smaller lot on the
southeast corner of the school is
available to parents at all times.
Please respect the no stopping
signs on Waverley Drive at all
times. On Windsor Street, parking
is not allowed during school hours,
however students can be dropped
off and parents can easily drive
away. By parking in this area you
are breaking the law and
restricting the sight lines of our
patrols. Your cooperation is
important in maintaining a safe
environment for our students,
crossing guards and all local
pedestrians.
Please do not hesitate in
contacting me if I can be
assistance with regards to any
school matter.

Way to RUN LIONS!!!

back to the school by Monday,
November 11. Delivery date for
Cookie dough and Poinsetta is
Friday, November 29. Proceeds go
to the Grade 8 trip year end trip.
For order sheets, see Mr. Brown or
Mrs. Steele.
Junior Cross Country
Junior Cross Country was a huge
success this year. We had 32
students take part in a 1.9km race
at Puslinch Community Centre on
Monday Oct. 21st. Not even the
cold drizzle could slow down our
team. Waverley had many runners
perform personal best runs. It was
great to see so many top 10
finishes. Waverley ended up
coming in a tie for first out of 6
schools. It could not have
happened without the whole
team, including all the parents
cheering the team to the finish!
Great work Lions!

The Band: The band learned a
basic version of Monster Mash to
support the primary students for
their Hallowe'en Costume Parade
at the big assembly. Thanks for
putting in a great effort and
making those youngsters feel
special.
The next gig for us is our
presentation of O Canada on
Monday, November 11th for our
Remembrance Day ceremony. We
will also play the anthem at the
Guelph Storm game on Friday, Jan
31st. Parents are welcome to
attend both performances.
Waverley Worms Update
The Worms are holding a logo
design contest for our new Wormy
Gotchas. The contest will be held
between November 3 to15. See
your homeroom teacher for a
submission form. Please send all
submissions to the office. All logo
submissions should display
environmental awareness and a
connection to the Waverley
Worms. On another note, after the
contest we will be debuting
Wormy Gotchas. These gotchas
will be awarded to anyone
showing a sense of environmental
awareness each month. We will
take the gotchas awarded and do
monthly draws for special
environmental prizes! On
November 22nd, we will be
participating in our first Enviroday! On this day we will try our
best at Waverley to keep the lights
out in all classrooms all day. Each
month we showcase a different
Enviro-day to help keep our
environment healthy.
