Fashion Merchandising Program Meeting
September 27, 2013

Items Discussed:
1.
Course Fees – Agreed to add fee to HMS 131 and delete fee from HMS 119 – do paper work now
to take effect in 2014/2015; for 2013/2014 fee remains on 119 and a fall field trip is being
planned for DMC, NM-Dallas, Zodiac Room & Kennedy Exhibit at ECC and a spring field trip to
Career Day will be planned. Next fall, revisit, but plan to possible add course fee to HMS 233 to
require those student to go to Career Day for more participation in Trend Board competition.
2.
Review of FM Syllabi required by Assessment Committee – Due Nov 15. Set meeting to review
for Friday, Nov 1, 11-11:50. Each faculty will review five syllabi (not ones taught) and will print
copy from the SFA webpage to bring to meeting. (Jones will review HMS 204, 250, 260, 323, &
333; Cupit will review HMS 233, 343, 419, 420, & 452; Greer will review HMS 119, 131, 232, 363,
& 463).
3.
Travel policy changes sent via email from Dr. Martin (Email 9-27-13)
4.
Reporting criminal activity required by UPD by faculty responsible for field trips (Email 9-26-13)
5.
Recruitment/Retention Plan – each program will be required to develop, but no further
information available at this time; be brainstorming possibilities
6.
Upcoming dates to remember:
Textbook orders due to Stephanie – Oct 4
TracDat deadline for 2012/2013 entries – Oct 15
FARS – Jamie (goes up) – Oct 15
Michelle & Becky – Nov 1
HMS 119 Field trip (all 3 attending) – Nov 11
FM Syllabus Review Completed – Nov 15
