SIT • Their mission is to prepare students to be inter culturally effective leaders, professionals, and citizens. • The experience… -Academic programs through a field-based, experimental approach -Undergrad research through an independent study project -Cultural immersion though fieldwork, language classes, and urban and rural--home stays with local families -Access to SITs local resources and networks • In Africa there are programs in Cameroon, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia • In Europe there is a program in Geneva HOW TO PAY FOR IT • The total cost of study abroad will change depending on a number if factors, including the one spent abroad and the country in which you study • There are a few strategies that can be used to cover the cost: – – • • • sometimes financial aid can help The US government or the government of the country where you plan to study can sometimes pay for some/all of the cost Some programs include room and board while others only include tuition, so even if the sticker price for one program is cheaper, it could be more expensive in reality Don't forget to budget for (and overestimate!) spending money You get what you put into study abroad. If you go only to study and pursue a degree, your time overseas probably won't be as special or enriching as it could have been had you been exploring the new environment of the country in which you are studying.
