President DiBiasio called the meeting to order at 11:01 AM.
In a slick pinch hit maneuver, Chaplain MacDonald offered the invocation.
Minutes from February 25, 2013 were approved as submitted.
Unfinished Business: None.
Report from University Council: Jeff Allison shared that Council will be meeting today in
Dicke 230 at 5:30 PM. You are welcome to attend.
a. Nominations for Faculty committee at-large positions can be found in Attachment A of
the agenda. Please send any further nominations to Jeff Allison. Elections will be held at
the next University Faculty meeting on April 15th at 11 AM.
Reports from Constitutional Committees:
a. Budget and Appropriations: No report.
b. Academic Affairs: No report.
c. Student Affairs: Jenny Walton announced that the Student Activities Committee met on
February 28th and approved the following student groups: ONU Apologetics, Oxfam
America, The Undergraduate Affiliate Network of the American Society for
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Game Design Club, Yoga Club and Phi Mu Delta.
a. Personnel: No report.
Reports from Operational Committees:
a. Athletic Events: No report.
b. Cultural Events: No report.
c. International Affairs: Brian Keas announced that the committee met yesterday. Four
students were selected to receive Shuhaibar scholarships. One student was selected to
receive the Karen Condeni award. Thanks to all that provided nomination letters – they
are an important part of the process. The new director of international admissions,
Raymond Orinoco, was also welcomed yesterday during his first day on campus.
d. Religious Affairs: Chaplain David MacDonald reminded everyone that the memorial
service for Tim McMullen will be held at 7 PM this evening in the chapel. He also
announced that plans for baccalaureate are coming along – the service will be held May
10th at 4:30 PM in the chapel. The new format this year will include a keynote speaker,
student speakers, scripture and prayer. All are welcome.
e. Information Technology: No report.
Questions for the President: President DiBiasio made a few announcements before opening
the floor to questions.
a. A summary report of the evaluations of the President will be shared at the April faculty
meeting.
b. The President expressed appreciation to those that were able to attend the Master
Planning Campus Forums. If you have additional questions or comments, there will be
more opportunities to do so. Master Planning is still in the exploration phase.
c. The Health Services Initiative report was recently made accessible. The President has
asked Julie Hurtig and Brian Keas to develop a plan of action for high priority, rapid
development items that will include the following programs: public health,
bioinformatics and an online RN/BSN.

d. The President commended the nursing program and the chair, Sue Montenerey, for
receiving a letter from the Ohio Board of Nursing stating their recommendation for full
accreditation. The program met all requirements.
e. Provost Dave Crago continues to improve. He is now at home and making significant
progress.
f. Judge Logan, a graduate of ONU’s College of Law and a member of the Board of
Trustees, returned home on March 3rd after hospitalization following a stroke. He is
improving.
g. There were no questions for the President.
Questions for the Provost: Acting Provost Julie Hurtig made a few announcements before
opening the floor to questions.
a. The new Dean of the Raabe College of Pharmacy, Dr. Steve Martin, will be joining ONU
on July 1st from the University of Toledo.
b. Advanced registration begins next week. Two or three more sections of extradisciplinary
seminar (EXDS) are still needed.
c. The catalog is available on time. The registrar has transferred information into Banner.
Any future catalog changes will involve a two step process to also address the changes in
Banner. Please keep note of any changes that are made.
d. Degree Works has been implemented in the College of Engineering and the College of
Pharmacy. The College of Business is in the process of implementing Degree Works
and the College of Arts and Sciences is next. This is a great tool that Academic Affairs
will be happy to demonstrate to you.
e. Tickets will not be used for commencements this year.
f. Honors day is April 26th. The keynote speaker will be Tena Roepke. She is currently in
her 30th year at ONU.
g. Faculty should report to the commencement where their students are graduating. Faculty
members are more than welcome to attend the other ceremonies also.
h. Faculty and staff forums will be held on Wednesday, March 26th at 4 PM and Thursday,
March 27th at 9 AM in the McIntosh Ballroom. The forums will focus on counseling
center services, pastoral care and ONU’s Student Affairs Response Team (SART)
process.
i. Julie Hurtig expressed her disappointment that no questions were asked to add to her list
of work.
Other Reports: None.
New Business: None.
Announcements:
a. Tom Simmons announced that Cody Lovejoy received the Elite 89 Award at the NCAA
National Wrestling Championships last week. This is the second consecutive Elite 89
Award for Cody. This award recognizes the student with the highest GPA in all of
Division III wrestling.
b. Tom Hunt announced a unique and attractive program to be offered on March 31st at 8
PM in Snyder Recital Hall in Presser. Romel and Victoria Joseph, Haitian violinists, will
discuss establishing music education in Haiti and surviving the 2010 earthquake in that
country. The suggested donation is $10.

c. Jennifer Moore announced the poetry reading of Matt Hart in the Elzay Gallery on March
19th at 7 PM. The reception begins at 6:30 PM.
d. Mark Cruea announced Relay for Life on Sunday, March 23rd from 9 AM to 9 PM in the
King Horn Field House. If you cannot attend, you are also welcome to donate online at
www.relayforlife.org/onu.
e. Kathleen Baril announced that Deidre Keller will offer seminars discussing your rights as
an author on April 15th and April 22nd. Both talks will be held at 11 AM in room 301 in
Heterick Memorial Library. Refreshments will be served.
