Report to Faculty Assembly
November 2012
The committee met on October 30, 2012 and Steve Kirkham, Athletic Director gave a preliminary report
on the Title 9 report. The report is undergoing internal review and will be released in a few weeks. He
also reported on fall sports and pointed out that all fall sports have had very successful seasons. Both
Men’s and Women’s soccer were in league playoff matches as well as the Volleyball team. The crosscounty team had Regionals in Denver and will be headed to Joplin MO for Nationals. Basketball preseason for both Women and Men has started.
Mary Ann Kluge, FAR reported on her attendance of the RMAC FAR conference. She gave a report about
a discussion that the RMAC FAR’s had about online course offerings to freshman and sophomores and
retention and eligibility. Additionally Mary Ann suggested some revisions to the Athlete’s missed class
form that is used to let Professors know that they will miss class due to games. She also reported that
her experience with faculty regarding missed classes and scheduling has been very supportive.
Old business was continuation of a discussion of how to get more faculty involvement as well as better
advertising to promote home athletic events. Other old business noted that the revisions on the IAAC
webpage are in progress. Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday Nov. 27 in EPC 304C
