Next semester, we will have the opportunity to devise an original
piece with the Detroit-based ensemble, The Hinterlands.
In preparation for this collaboration, Richard Newman and Liza
Bielby of The Hinterlands will be holding their first workshop
with Hope College students on September 19 from 3:30-6pm in
the Studio Theatre. All students are invited to participate, including students who have an interest in design and technical
theatre as well as actors.
The aim of the workshop is to establish a vocabulary of devising, which we will collectively build upon in further workshops
throughout the semester, and ultimately into the production process.
We encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity
to work with this innovative, genre-defying group. To find out
more about Richard Newman and The Hinterlands, visit http://
