Statement by the City’s Executive Mayor, Patricia de Lille on the passing of George ‘Fritz’ Marx The City of Cape Town today mourns the loss of one of our colleagues and friends, Fritz Marx. A long time civil servant for our City, Fritz worked through a number of administrations serving the people of Cape Town. He was a great asset to our City, and to my office as Protocol Officer. Fritz was committed to his job, supported me throughout my time as Mayor and was always willing to share his considerable institutional knowledge with others. On behalf of the City of Cape Town, I would like to send my sincere condolences to Fritz’s mother, family and friends. He was an asset to the Mayoral Office and will truly be missed.
