Vocabulary story 1 This story happened somewhere in a galaxy far, far away, maybe even in a parallel universe. There lived a beautiful girl called Anny with a sophisticated taste on everything. She had a fabulous appearance according to her place of residence. She had her favourite stuffed teddy bear she spent all her time with. The most interesting thing about it was that it could talk. In that fantasy world everything was possible, but they lived peacefully and carefully. But once the girl noticed that some odd things stated to happen with the toy. The voice of the toy began to change gradually, occasionally making spooky noises. The girl got alarmed and started fussing, looking for a reason for her friend’s behavior. Little did she guess what was going on with it. But one day suddenly something dark and eerie appeared from the toy. The girl was terrified and was ready to raise and alarm...but then she just woke up. It turned out to be a nightmare, which was quite a usual thing for any child of her age. Vocabulary story 2 This story is about a teenage boy named Karl, who was an ordinary German boy and lived not far from Schwarzwald. He was really smart and his mother usually took a good care of him, so, he looked smart, too. He had only one friend named Fritz, and the boys spent their free time exchanging favourite books and occasionally playing games in Karl’s smart phone. Karl considered Fritz a very loyal friend to him, he could even trust his life to Fritz. Unfortunately, as they say, life is cruel and full of betrayal, and in the end his friend betrayed his trust. The thing was they both fell for their classmate called Anja. It turned out that Fritz didn’t want to solve that problem in a peaceful way, so every time they ended up shouting at each other. Eventually Fritz behaved very dishonestly and disrespectfully, telling Anja mean stuff about his former friend, that was utter nonsense. Of course, he didn’t feel guilty at all. His scurvy action had a big effect on Karl and broke his heart in some way. But he was really smart and knew that there was no point in exchanging blows and doing any other stupid things. He came to the conclusion that Fritz just wasn’t trustworthy, but it wasn’t the end of the world and once he would manage to make friends with really good people. The Lottery Summary The action of this spooky story takes place on a warm summer day in late June. The inhabitants of one small town gather in the square to participate in a lottery which is organized by Mr. Summers, who tends to organize all big events in this town. The children arrive first and begin collecting stones until their parents call them. It's just another ordinary day in this town. Mr. Summers calls each head of the household forward to a black wooden box, where each of them takes a piece of paper. After the men choose them, Mr. Summers allows everyone to open the paper and see who is going to be selected. The lucky person turns out to be Bill Hutchinson. His wife immediately starts protesting, but it seems like there is no point in it. Mr. Summers places five pieces of paper into the box and each member of Hutchinson’s family takes them. Mrs. Hutchinson gets a piece of paper with a big black dot in the center. And suddenly the crowd advances on her, and it becomes clear to us what the prize for the lottery really is. The woman protests in vain as the people attack her. ДЗ 2.12 №2 1. Looked out 2. Look at 3. Looking for 4. Look after 5. Look at 6. Look me in 7. what are you looking for 9. Look after 10.
