Statement by the City’s Executive Mayor, Patricia de Lille Mayor engages with editors during Inclusive City campaign Yesterday, 1 April 2015, as part of one of the engagements for the Inclusive City campaign, I met with the editors of a range of print publications. As a society, we have heard about many of the racist incidents which have occurred through the media. As a result, we felt the need to engage and consult with them as very important stakeholders in the discussions on racism in Cape Town. I am very grateful that we could meet with them and hear their views about this dialogue. We appreciate the broad support that they have shown for this initiative. We do hope that this is the beginning of a longstanding commitment to fight racism and foster a human rights-based culture in our city, where racism is not tolerated.
