The purpose of this program is to allow participants a comprehensive day of
updated material in the ophthalmology field. This includes rare and unusual
cases which might otherwise not be seen, reports on results of current and new
surgical procedures, technologies and treatment modalities which could be
incorporated into practices, and comprehensive reviews of other ophthalmologic topics germane to the every day practice of ophthalmology.
Upon conclusion of this course, participants should be able to link the
educational objectives to Core Competencies (Patient Care, Medical
Knowledge, Professionalism, and Quality Improvement):
n Prescribe appropriate empirical coverage and diagnostic testing
based on risk factors
n List the causes of eyelid dysfunction and describe approaches to
repair for each
n Incorporate new techniques for improvement in refractive cataract surgery
n Recognize and diagnose ocular syphilis
n Evaluate outcomes of secondary glaucoma treatments
n Recognize the effect and optimal therapeutic timing for optic

updated material in the ophthalmology field. This includes rare and unusual
cases which might otherwise not be seen, reports on results of current and new
surgical procedures, technologies and treatment modalities which could be
incorporated into practices, and comprehensive reviews of other ophthalmologic topics germane to the every day practice of ophthalmology.
Upon conclusion of this course, participants should be able to link the
