We are honored to announce that she is moving onto bigger and better things within the department, and we are still able to see her on a daily basis. On her one year anniversary with UCCS we are celebrating her new position as a Program Assistant I. The road has been full of trips (literally), laughs, and chaos, but it has paid off. I speak on behalf of Facilities Services when I say we are all so lucky and happy to not only be keeping Deanna on the premises but also to be gaining a new wonderful leader. Page 2 Kristy is originally from Southern California. She moved to Colorado in 1980 but has lived in many other states, due to her husband’s career in the military. Kristy was a cheerleader at Doherty High School and recently coached all-star cheer. She loves all things Disney and her favorite vacation spot is, you guessed it, Disneyland. Kristy spends her weekends reading, bingewatching TV, sometimes mountain biking, and mostly spending time with her family, especially her two little grandsons. Kristy has Have a Great Summer! Facilities Services Student Appreciation This year we were able to celebrate the graduation of 9 of our student employees. We gathered together with thanks in our hearts and hunger in our bellies for the recognition of not only the graduating students, but also those continuing to pursue their degree here at UCCS. Nothing says, “we appreciate you,” more than a pizza party with an abundance of cookies and caffeine. Administration, spoke of their respect and gratitude for the student employees at Facilities Services. Working in an environment with students, especially in the workplace we participate in, allows us to have a constant reminder of why we’re here. It was a great day for the celebration of accomplishments had, lessons learned, and relationships built. Diede and Means—Materials, Acquisitions, And Distributions Super Team With the continued growth on campus, and the need for more efficiency and cost control of our surplus property, we have created the Materials, Acquisitions, and Distribution Team. With that comes our new superhero duo,”. Diede and Means are the new faces of our Materials, Acquisitions, and Distributions team( AKA Surplus). And with the goals they have set for themselves, there is no doubt they are well on their way to superhero stardom. see operations of TRW, which houses all of our surplus items. With his new position he will take on multiple new task and processes. Just to name a few: he will manage procurement of goods and supplies for all our work groups, manage the surplus team, lead our department safety program, and inventory control. Nick has been a wrestling official at all levels for 27 years. It’s one of his defining passions, along with golf, the color blue, his Harley, and the Broncos. Nick Diede (sounds like Nick DEEDEE), is manager of our new Materials, Acquisition and Distribution team. We like to call him, the MAD Manager. Nick will over- Mark Means is our Material Handler II. He will assist Nick with getting TRW into “Tip Top Shape” along with inventory and surplus work orders. He is a coffee-connoisseur with so much potential for caffeine immunity it’s unheard of. His favorite activity outside of work is trail running in a torrential downpour with nun chucks. The nun chucks aren’t for the rain though, they’re for the bears. Mark is not only concerned with swinging sticks, while running, he also enjoys paying the piano, eating sushi, and watching movies. Nick Diede Mark Means Page 3
