Makin’ Moves
As the campus has grown it has
become even more important
that our department work more
efficiently and effectively. To
that end Facilities Services has
gone through some remodeling
recently and the finished product
was definitely worth the constant
dust cloud and continuous banging.
AN UPDATE...

Department has a new online

races. But in all honesty, we’ll
probably just use it to calmly
walk between one work space to
another, if we’re feeling adventurous we’ll have a large stack of
papers to balance as well.
Now that the final steps have
been completed, and everyone
is getting settled in their new
offices, we just have to remember where everyone moved.
We also had reconstruction of most
of the Planning & Construction
offices. This will allow us to be
more efficient as we manage the
many construction projects on
campus. We were able to open up
a hallway between two different
sections of offices that will allow
for less traffic in our main walkway. It’s the perfect accommodation for three-legged, potato sack

Most of the campus community knows that Deanna
Ely has been the heart and
soul of Facilities Services
for the last decade. We are
honored to announce that
she is moving onto bigger
and better things within the
department, and we are
still able to see her on a
daily basis.

been with us at Facilities
Services since July 14,
2014. On her one year anniversary with UCCS we
are celebrating her new
position as a Program Assistant I.
The road has been full of
trips (literally), laughs, and
chaos, but it has paid off. I
speak on behalf of Facilities Services when I say we
are all so lucky and happy
to not only be keeping
Deanna on the premises
but also to be gaining a
new wonderful leader.
Thank you Kristy for all you
do!

Student Appreciation
This year we were able to
celebrate the graduation of
9 of our student employees.
We gathered together with
thanks in our hearts and
hunger in our bellies for
the recognition of not only
the graduating students,
but also those continuing to
pursue their degree here at
UCCS.
Nothing says, “we appreciate you,” more than a pizza
party with an abundance of
cookies and caffeine.
Administration, spoke of their
respect and gratitude for the
student employees at Facilities
Services. Working in an environment with students, especially in the workplace we participate in, allows us to have a constant reminder of why we’re
here.
It was a great day for the celebration of accomplishments had,
lessons learned, and relationships built.

Diede and Means—Materials, Acquisitions, And Distributions Super Team
With the continued growth on
campus, and the need for more
efficiency and cost control of our
surplus property, we have created the Materials, Acquisitions,
and Distribution Team. With
that comes our new superhero
duo,”. Diede and Means are the
new faces of our Materials, Acquisitions, and Distributions
team( AKA Surplus). And with
the goals they have set for themselves, there is no doubt they are
well on their way to superhero
stardom.
see operations of TRW, which
houses all of our surplus items.
With his new position he will
take on multiple new task and
processes. Just to name a few: he
will manage procurement of
goods and supplies for all our
work groups, manage the surplus
team, lead our department safety
program, and inventory control.
Nick has been a wrestling official
at all levels for 27 years. It’s one
of his defining passions, along
with golf, the color blue, his Harley, and the Broncos.
Nick Diede (sounds like Nick
DEEDEE), is manager of our new
Materials, Acquisition and Distribution team. We like to call him,
the MAD Manager. Nick will over-
Mark Means is our Material Handler II. He will assist Nick with
getting TRW into “Tip Top
Shape” along with inventory and
surplus work orders. He is a
coffee-connoisseur with so much
potential for caffeine immunity
it’s unheard of. His favorite activity outside of work is trail running in a torrential downpour
with nun chucks. The nun chucks
aren’t for the rain though, they’re
for the bears.
Mark is not only concerned with
swinging sticks, while running,
he also enjoys paying the piano,
eating sushi, and watching movies.
