All UCCS students who complete teacher licensure passed either the PLACE or Praxis state‐required content exams. Below are the mean scores for both PLACE and Praxis, along with the passing cut‐score, for the last three years. Cells with fewer than five students contain an asterisk (*) to protect privacy. UCCS is proud to be one of the early adopters in Colorado to make use of the edTPA, a teacher performance assessment. This nationally recognized, externally scored exam is designed as a summative measure for teacher candidates on specific knowledge and skills. edTPA includes content specific assessments in elementary education as well as multiple secondary fields such as mathematics, social studies, and English language arts. The assessment is designed to be predictive of the future performance of teacher candidates and is required in a growing number of states as part of the licensure process. The assessment is divided into three tasks for secondary teachers and four for elementary. Each task is measured in multiple facets on separate rubric scores. A final score for the entire edTPA is also generated. While Colorado does not yet have a specific cut‐score, states such as Washington require teachers to score 35 or better. The table below shows mean edTPA, rubric, and task scores for both the inaugural UCCS class.
