She has developed an MBA course called the Principle of Objectivity that helps people react appropriately to changing dynamics, make sound decisions, and become more effective leaders. She also consults and teaches customized executive education programs to companies in the areas of leadership, objectivity, and diversity. She has more than 15 years of corporate experience with institutions such as American Express and Bank One and more than 15 years of entrepreneurial experience with clients such as the Presidential Inaugural Committee, Clinton ’92, The White House, a global beverage corporation, and more than 500 small businesses. In 2007, Governor Deval Patrick appointed Thornton to the Massachusetts Workforce Investment Board. In 2010, Patrick appointed Thornton to the board of directors of the newly legislated Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation.
