Statistics and Economics FACULTY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY About the Programme This programme would introduce students to a multidisciplinary field of study, which relates to the application of statistical theory to problems in economics and is geared towards the development of economists with appropriate quantitative skills necessary for the development of the regional human resource capacity in this highly sought after area. Graduate Profile Graduates from this programme would have a good understanding of key economic and statistical issues and have the ability to apply innovative statistical techniques to help address economic challenges. Upon completing the Statistics and Economics degree programme, graduates can consider a career in a wide range of positions, including: • The government service • Statistical Offices • Insurance firms • Consultancies Admission requirements Admission to the programme would require candidates to have passes in 2 CAPE subjects or ‘A’ Level equivalent. One of these subjects must Mathematics with a minimum grade of II in Units I and II Pure Mathematics.
