YEAR 7 EXAM REVIEW GUIDE Semester One 2014-15 Subject: 7 English (Mainstream) Teacher: Ms. Bryant, Mrs. Perks, Ms. McGraw Exam Type: 1 ½ hour exam. Testing reading comprehension and creative writing. Skill Focus: The reading section will require reading a short passage and demonstrating understanding of content. This examination will require students to read actively, and to then respond to a range of questions aimed at testing their comprehension and reading skills. The Creative writing task will assess the students’ progress in writing. We are looking at the students’ ability to use the PEE structure in their paragraphs. We are also looking to check that they are responding to the question prompts and using an increasingly broad range of nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. Grammar and Language Use Multiple choice and fill in the blank questions. The focus will be on proper past tense verb forms. Writing Task Students will be given a descriptive writing task. They should review elements of descriptive writing, including adjectives and sensory language.
