• The Space Leadership Conference (SLC) is an annual planning and
leadership development event for the Space SIG
• Operated by the NSBE Houston Space Professionals Chapter on
behalf of the Space SIG
• Formerly known as Space Leadership Retreat
• Held at NSBE World Headquarters in Alexandria, VA 2006-2010
• Held in tourist destinations 2011-2013
– Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 2011
– Las Vegas, Nevada 2012
– San Juan, Puerto Rico 2013
• Held at NASA Johnson Space Center 2014
• Held at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center 2015

• Conduct planning for upcoming Space SIG
technical projects, outreach, and conferences

– Strengthen incorporation of Systemic Intelligent Fast Failure
practices and use of Asana tool across all project and conference

– Communicate “big picture” visions across Space SIG team

– Select venues and top-level goals for 2017 Space Leadership

2016 SLC Goals
• Leverage conference location to create a long-term formal
partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
– Faculty-Space SIG collaboration with respect to a Space SIG
technical project
• Includes engagement of ERAU NSBE chapter
• Includes student research opportunities (both in classroom and chapter
settings)
• Includes pursuit of research funding (grants, etc.)
• Promotes student mentorship with aerospace professionals
