Oral Exam Preparation
This packet serves as a guide to help you prepare for your 1st semester oral exam. One of the goals of Spanish 2,
1st Semester is that you are able to communicate through speaking in multiple verb tenses and forms. This
handout should serve as a guide to help you to be successful on the final. In addition to this handout you should
review vocabulary and notes that we have used on the test. As you will see from the rubric below that you will be
graded on not only your comprehension and response, but to receive an “A” there is the expectation that you are
creative and original in your response. You receive grades for your response to questions, your generation of
questions for the teacher and also your overall fluency.
The following is the rubric in which you will be graded:

¿Qué necesito saber?
The preterit tense is used to talk about completed events in the past. You will be asked two questions regarding
the past. Questions will ask you about your friends/family and yourself. You must be prepared to all of the
following questions or questions like them. The answers are provided are models, but you should be creative
with your own response to receive an A.

The present tense was the focus of Spanish 1, but this year we also learned some stem-changers. In addition to
speaking in the preterit tense you should still be able to differentiate a question that is referring to a regularly
occurring activity in the present tense. Make sure that you are able to answer the following questions or questions
like them. You will asked one question the present tense.

The immediate future was covered in Spanish 1, but reviewed it again this year. We use this to talk about what
we’re <<going>> to do. It is a rather simple form, but be ready to answer questions regarding what you and
others are going to do. You will be asked one question regarding the future.

Commands in the formal, informal and plural forms will be on the test. You must remember how to form the
commands for the aforementioned forms. I will say to you: <<You want to tell your friend <<eat>> what
would you say? (You should respond _______________). Okay now you want to tell your grandma to eat.
(You should respond with ___________________). Okay now you want to tell a group of people to eat. (You
should respond with ______________________). I want to know that you’re able to distinguish the right form
based on context. I may ask you in a different order, but I will ask you for all three forms of the verb.
