If you are absent, check Schoology for your assignments. You will need to check in with me before school or during seminar to get directions for assignments. You can, also, use Schoology to send me a message that you have the assignments or with questions. It is important that you check with all of your teachers after being absent. If a test is scheduled on a day you are absent, it will need to be made up within the next two seminars, or you will receive no credit. If you have other tests or labs to make up during those same seminar periods, it is essential that you meet with me so that other arrangements can be made. If you do not bother to make “other arrangements,” you will not be allowed to make up the test, and you will receive a zero for the work. If you know you will be absent (prior to the absence) due to a doctor or dentist appointment, traveling, job shadowing, etc., your work will be made up ahead of time unless you have met with me and other arrangements have been made. If a project or assignment is due on a day you will be absent, it needs to be turned in ahead of time or it will be considered late and reduced by 20%. If you miss several days of school and are swamped with make-up work, see me so that special arrangements can be made. I will work with you as long as you have made the effort to communicate with me. Contact Information: You can contact me at school using the Schoology messaging system, calling the school (712) 623-6610, or email at reevek@roschools.com . Computer Usage: Make sure you have read the student/parent handbook you were given. We will be using the laptops to write all rough draft and final essays which will be submitted using Schoology. If, for some reason, Schoology is not working, email rough drafts and final drafts to me at reevek@roschools.com . Other Rules and Information Modern technology is a wonderful thing. Cell phones have become a way of life for most of us. The school rule is that no cell phones will be used during the day. It is a simple rule to follow, and I expect you to abide by it. Here are some additional guidelines. 1. All purses will be placed on the floor. 2. Your hands will be visible at all times during class. This means that they will not be in your pocket, sweatshirt pouch, or jacket pocket. 3. If I catch you with your phone, it will be confiscated. First Offense: you may pick your phone up after school at 3:35 PM. Second Offense: phone pickup after school at 3:55 PM. If you are so brazen to get caught a third time, I will write you up for insubordination. Phone pickup will be at 4:00 PM. Early release pick up times: First offense: 1:25 PM Second and third offense: 1:45 PM All students can be successful in this class. Students, who attend school regularly, do their homework assignments, and get to class on time will succeed.
