I believe the audience for each of my virtual spaces differs. First, I think that Yahoo email has an audience that ranges in age. It can be all types of ages from a middle school student, to a business professional. Myspace and Facebook would have a similar audience. The audience would range from high school students all the way to parents. However, Facebook use to be aimed at college students with university email addresses. Obviously, D2L and Arizona email have an audience that mostly consists of students. As well, many professors also have an Arizona email and D2l account. I use Yahoo email to mostly communicate with Facebook messages and spam mail. I would consider my Yahoo email to be a back-up email account. For Arizona email, I use this email to communicate with professors, potential employers, classmates, friends, and family; my Arizona email is my primary email account. I do not use my Myspace anymore because I find Facebook to be a better social networking website. I use Facebook to mostly communicate with friends and family. The purpose of my My D2L is to communicate with professors and classmates academically. I believe that the majority of viewers looking at my virtual spaces consist of friends, family, employers, professors, and students. 4. My Yahoo email is for personal use, Myspace is for personal use, Facebook is for personal use, Arizona email is for academic/business/personal use, D2L is for academic use, and my LRC webpage is also for academic use. In regards to my Yahoo email and Arizona email, the difference between the two are that my Yahoo email is an email I give away when signing up for surveys, spam mail, and junk mail; basically all the email that serves no purpose to my. My Arizona email is for a more professional use, such as putting on my resume, and communicating with professors and students alike. Myspace and Facebook are considered the same because they are both social networking websites. However, Facebook has become my main social networking webpage. D2L is not similar to any of my other virtual spaces because it is a network meant for academic use only. My LRC webpage also stands on its own because I have never created a webpage dedicated to myself and my school work. I try to keep all my personal information on my social networking sites and LRC webpage to a minimum. The reason being, employers do tend to search your name via Google and Yahoo and I prefer not to give out the wrong impression. 5. As a future teacher, I would have my students create a personal webpage, similar to that of the LRC webpage I created. There, my students would be able to create pages that display their hobbies and self-interests. As well, the students could post course material in which they created for class. By having my students create their own webpage, me as a teacher, could get a better understanding of my students personalities and work habits. By this, I mean I would be able to see the colors used, font styles, pictures, and course work. Depending on the effort displayed I could get a good understanding of each student. I believe it only to be ethical to view virtual spaces that are relevant to school. The reason being, there needs to be a fine line between personal information and academic information. 6. As a matter of fact, I have received several emails directly from U of A and my business program explaining that employers do search social networking pages to look up more information about their candidates. I have also looked up the proper privacy settings to use on such social networking pages as Facebook. I have made my Facebook webpage as private as I feel comfortable. More so, I would not consider my Facebook page to be public because my Facebook page does not appear on Google if one was to search my name. As well, if you search my name via Facebook directly, I am only found if we have at least one friend in common. The only way one is able to see my personal information on Facebook is if I accept their friend request.
