Lesson Plans for Monday October 19, 2015 - Friday October 23, 2015 Monday, October 19th, 2015 DAY 4 1st period (TU): 1. Correction of homework: p.10-11-12 in the movie unit and p.8 in the grammar booklet. *Ensure that the rest of their homework from last time is corrected because we did not complete it on Thursday. 2. I am going to show them 2 trailers and they will need to respond to the question in the back of their movie unit. I will explain to them that they are going to have an evaluation very similar to this in the next upcoming weeks. I will ensure that they will have enough time (2 times) to watch each trailer. *I am going to use the same trailers as you did in order to make sure that we are repeating them later on! 3. Before asking the students to open their movie units (for the next activity), I want to show them a poster of a movie. Ask them what are the components that they see and what makes them important. Ask students to open their movie unit to page 13. Review each component of the movie poster examples and relate it to the real life example we just looked at. Ask them questions pertaining to each poster and relate it to what they need to complete on p.14. After reviewing, ask the students to complete p.14. 4. Explanation of project: Due on October 30th. I will hand out the sheet and explain every portion of the handout + Explain that they are going to have a reading comprehension & a listening exam (similar to what we did in today’s class) on the same day! ENSURE that I write down important dates and they all copy in down in their agendas with a brief explanation. 5. Homework for next class: p.15 & p.18-19 in the movie unit + start working on their projects. 3rd period (03): *same lesson as previous minus the extra homework correction 1. There was no homework to correct so I am going to start off with the remainder of the oral presentations that were not completed (from last class and/or if someone did not show up during recup) 2. Once the orals are completed, I will ask the students to take off everything from their desk. I will send the students who need to go to SPI right away. I will ask some students to help me hand out their writing evaluation. They did not have to study or prepare anything for this evaluation. I will give them a few minutes to review the questions without writing anything down and then allow them to complete the exam. 3. If the students complete the exam, I will have crosswords prepared for them to do and/or they could color in their agenda. This evaluation should take the whole period in order for them to develop their ideas and correct any mistakes along the way! Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 DAY 5 1st period (BL-03): Same as previous class (BL-04) 3rd period (04): 1. Correction of homework: p.15 & p.18-19 in the movie unit 2. Show them a short PowerPoint presentation on character description. I will ask them for their feedback and involvement in this portion of the class because it will help them with the following activity. 3. After the PowerPoint, I will ask them to complete p.24-25 individually because they will have to do something very similar for their project (which I am going to be explaining later on in class. 4. As soon as most of the students are finished with this activity, I will ask for their feedback and what they have decided to put for their answers. 5. In groups of 2, I will ask them to complete p.17. On page 17, they will be doing something similar to what they were previously completing. I want to have them in pairs to help the students develop different ways of explaining the various components of movies. 6. After looking over their answers, I will explain the project to the students. Explanation of project: Due on Nov 3rd. I will hand out the sheet and explain every portion of the handout + Explain that they are going to have a reading comprehension & a listening exam (similar to what we did in today’s class) on the same day! Wednesday, October 21st, 2015 DAY 6 2nd period (TU) & 4th period (03): *Same lesson as Group 04 minus the explanation of the project. This will give them more time to work on the activity pages directly associated to what they need to do for their projects. Thursday, October 22nd, 2015 DAY 7 1st period (BL-04) + 2nd period (BL-03): No planning class, arret d’horraire 4th period (04): 1. Correction of homework: p.20-21 in the movie unit 2. I will start off the lesson by showing the students another 3-4 (depending) trailers and they will need to respond to the question in the back of their movie unit. I will explain to them that their evaluation is coming up and they need to practice. I will ensure that they will have enough time (2 times) to watch each trailer. 3. In pairs, they will complete p.16 & p.22-23 in pairs. Before they complete the pages in their movie unit, I am going to ask them what they know about rating movies. How many are there? ETC. Upon hearing their responses, they will have to complete the following pages above. Once, they finish, we will correct it together. 4. I want to give a small portion of the class for them to work on their project and to ask any question that they might have according to the work that is being asked. 5. There will be an explanation of their homework before they are able to start it up. I will ask the students if they have ever seen a DVD cover before and ask their opinion of how much information is on it. What are they different components that we usually see on a DVD cover? I will write their answers on the board. They will then open up to p.26 and read the text and answer the questions that might be similar to what we just covered in class. 6.
