Mr. Izzo’s Student Contract
Welcome to Mr. Izzo’s history class. In order to achieve
your full potential in this class it is necessary for you to
adhere to the following classroom procedures, rules, and
regulations.

Classroom Rules:
1. Respect for self, others and teachers. Think before you speak,
think before you act.
2. Be prepared for class every day. Bring pencil, pen, binder, and
any assignments that are due.
3. Be on time for class. Chronic lateness will have a negative impact
on your class participation grade.
4. All assignments must be completed and handed in on time.
5. Check Mr. Izzo’s website regularly for assignments.
6. All school rules apply in this classroom.
Classroom Regulations:
1. *You will be assigned seats by your teacher and will be expected to
maintain these seats until your teacher changes them. If you are
having any difficulties with these assigned seats, bring them to the
attention of your teacher immediately.
2. The use of any personal electronics in class is prohibited, and will
be subject to the penalties specified in the student handbook.
3. Stow your book bags under your desk and out of the aisles.
4. No food or drinks (except water) will be consumed in class.
5. Each day’s lesson will begin promptly. If you should arrive late and
have a pass, enter quietly and leave your pass on the teacher’s desk.
6. Once in the classroom you should quietly proceed directly to your
assigned seat, take out your binder, a pen/pencil, and check the
board for an assignment (“Do Now”) and begin working.
7. Bathroom pass will be granted at the very beginning of class and at
the end of class (unless it is an emergency).
8. Each day’s class notes should be recorded in your HISTORY binder
as well as any handout (you should date your notes and handouts).
9. It is expected that you will participate actively during class
discussions. “Active” participation includes answering questions
(whether you are correct or not) as well as asking questions relating to
the day’s lesson/discussion. Participation in Mr. Izzo’s class includes
the following; answering questions, asking questions, being engaged in
the lesson or discussion, staying on task during class work, being
prepared (materials-binder, pen, pencil), being on time, and observing
and following class rules.
10. The end of the period is determined by the TEACHER! Remain in
your seat and wait for the teacher to dismiss you.
11. If the teacher is absent, a substitute lesson will be left for you to
complete. This assignment will be collected and graded.
Homework:
1. Homework should be done on a piece of paper separate from your
class notes or on designated handout [Not on the back of your class
notes]
2. All homework assignments must be completed using complete
sentences (unless notified differently by teacher).
3. All homework assignments are to be headed with your name and
class period on the upper left hand corner of your paper.
4. See Mr. Izzo’s webpage for descriptions of homework assignments,
due dates, study guides, and test/quiz dates.
5. Point values for homework assignments may range from 5 points
up to 100 points.
6. Homework assignments will either be collected and graded by the
teacher or checked for completion and graded by the teacher using
a point system. Late homework assignments will be accepted for a
penalized grade. * [Homework assignments that are checked for
completion cannot be made up if the student does not complete it]
7. All study guides are due the day of the assessment (study guides
cannot be made up if they are not competed and handed in before
the assessment).
8. All homework assignments will be posted on the teacher’s webpage
(date it was assigned, description, due date, handouts)
Tests & Quizzes:
1. All tests and quizzes will be announced ahead of time (at least one
week-5 school days)
2. Every student will receive a study guide for tests and quizzes (study
guides will also be handed out at least one week before the test/quiz
date)
3. Study guides will be collected on test/quiz day for a grade (20
points- as a homework assignment)
4. If you are absent for a test/quiz you must make arrangements with
the teacher to make it up as soon as possible. You have up to two
weeks from when you return from being absent to make up any
test or quiz you missed (unless you have been absent for an
extended time period- in this case see the teacher for further
arrangements). If you fail to make up a missed test/quiz within
this two week period YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO (0) for
the test/quiz.

Academic Integrity:
Students are expected to read and understand the Jr./Sr. Student
Handbook policy on plagiarism. Members of the Westwood Regional
School District are expected to be honest in their academic endeavors.
Please refer to the district’s policies.
Supplies:
You will be required to have a 3 ring binder (a 2 inch or 3 inch binder
is recommended) for this class (student will be receiving handouts on a
daily basis). You will also be required to bring to class a pen or pencil
everyday. [All other supplies needed for this class will be provided by
the teacher]
Extra Help:
Extra help will be provided to any students that need it. I am available
before school in room #130 (7:15 AM) as well as during my lunch
period (room #130). I am available for extra help after school in room
#130 from December to March. Please try and see me ahead of time to
schedule an extra help session.
