Assessment Task: Students will produce a short paragraph comparing and contrasting their drawing to a work of art by Pablo Picasso. La Bienvenida: (less than 1 min) Every day someone is assigned to do “La Bienvenida.” The paper for them to read will be on a magnet on the white board. Their names will always be written on the whiteboard for the whole week to give them a heads up for when it is their turn. They are only required to do “La Bienvenida sencilla.” If they want to branch out and try “La Bienvenida más avanzada” they can. 2. Warm-Up: (3 min) The warm-up is located on the PPT (see attachment). They already have a sheet that says “Prueba del día” and they should continue to fill that out. They are allowed to use their vocabulary list and stand up and walk around to talk to others. Remind them: - It is crucial they must speak in Spanish - They must answer the questions in complete sentences. - How do you say: “What is your favorite color?” in Spanish (“¿Cuál es tu color favorito?” 3. Follow the instructions given on the PPT. 4. Activity 1: (3-5 min) they will need the whiteboards, markers, and luffas that are located in the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet. After making their lists, one person from each group will represent the group and read off their list to the class. Assign each group of four to two paintings. 5. Activity 2: (5-8 min) They need to take out their vocabulary lists and when they walked into the room they should’ve picked up the paper titled “El Arte” the first thing. The teacher has one that she started to fill out. Use the doc camera to show the students what they need to fill in. Working in partners they will make lists of words in Spanish underneath and above each bubble. The famous museums and artists do not need to be Spanish speakers. After they make a list, the teacher will ask for words and write them on her paper using the doc camera. (Most of the words should come from the front and back of the vocabulary lists). 6. Activity 3: (5-8 min) You will be introducing Pablo Picasso. Just go with the PPT slides. The viewpure site is better to use because there are no commercials or ads that pop up. There are minutes listed for when to skip the video. Don’t watch the whole video-not necessary. They do not need to take notes. 7. Activity 4: (10-12 min) You will be introducing comparisons to them. Follow the PPT which has the students first just make another list of “Semejanzas y Diferencias.” This should be fast. Then introduce the students to comparisons. 8. Activity 5: (5-8 min) Pass out the papers with Pablo Picasso’s picture on it. Explain the instructions. Show the examples on the doc camera. Give them the rest of the time to work on it. If they don’t finish than it is additional homework. 9. Homework: Finish their Picasso assignments. Work on another activity from the medium column of the vocabulary homework assignment page (found below). In order to help you commit your new Spanish vocabulary words to memory you will need to choose and complete one assignment from each of the three columns. Fácil Make a “flip” chart 15 vocabulary words on a sheet of paper. Fold the paper in half vertically. Write the English words on the left side and the Spanish on the right side. Provide inspiration, create a wordle with 15 the hints and instructions in vocabulary words in Spanish and Spanish. English. Make a word pyramid for 15 vocabulary words. L Li Lib Create a crossword puzzle using 15 vocabulary words. You must provide an answer key. Create a children’s book at least 5 pages long. It must be appropriate, and the story must make sense. Provide illustrations, and use at least 15 vocabulary words. Libr Libro Create a 4x4. Fold your Write 15 original, nonpaper into 4 columns. repetitive, unrelated sentences Write words in Spanish in 1st column, English in using 15 vocabulary words. 2nd column, hide the Spanish and looking at English write the words Write a letter to a pen pal in a country of your choice. It must be appropriate, at least 7 sentences, and include 15 vocabulary words. in Spanish in 3rd column. Do the same for the 4th column. Illustrate 15 vocabulary words. It may be one scene or individually. Write 15 vocabulary word 3 times each. You must write the English word first. Create the 4 square model for 15 vocabulary words. (1st square: the word in Spanish; 2nd square: use the word in a sentence; 3rd square: illustrate the word; 4th square: definition of word in English).
