Key Vocabulary Words: Look at Unidad 2A vocab list front and back
1. La Bienvenida: (less than 1 min) Every day someone is assigned to do “La
Bienvenida.” The paper for them to read will be on a magnet on the white board.
Their names will always be written on the whiteboard for the whole week to give
them a heads up for when it is their turn. They are only required to do “La
Bienvenida sencilla.” If they want to branch out and try “La Bienvenida más
avanzada” they can.
2. Warm-Up: (3 min) The warm-up is located on the PPT (see attachment). They
already have a sheet that says “Prueba del día” and they should continue to fill
that out. They are allowed to use their vocabulary list and stand up and walk
around to talk to others. Remind them:
- It is crucial they must speak in Spanish
- They must answer the questions in complete sentences.
- How do you say: “What is your favorite color?” in Spanish (“¿Cuál es tu
color favorito?”
3. Follow the instructions given on the PPT.
4. Activity 1: (3-5 min) they will need the whiteboards, markers, and luffas that are
located in the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet. After making their lists, one
person from each group will represent the group and read off their list to the class.
Assign each group of four to two paintings.
5. Activity 2: (5-8 min) They need to take out their vocabulary lists and when they
walked into the room they should’ve picked up the paper titled “El Arte” the first
thing. The teacher has one that she started to fill out. Use the doc camera to show
the students what they need to fill in. Working in partners they will make lists of
words in Spanish underneath and above each bubble. The famous museums and
artists do not need to be Spanish speakers. After they make a list, the teacher will
ask for words and write them on her paper using the doc camera. (Most of the
words should come from the front and back of the vocabulary lists).
6. Activity 3: (5-8 min) You will be introducing Pablo Picasso. Just go with the PPT
slides. The viewpure site is better to use because there are no commercials or ads
that pop up. There are minutes listed for when to skip the video. Don’t watch the
whole video-not necessary. They do not need to take notes.
7. Activity 4: (10-12 min) You will be introducing comparisons to them. Follow the PPT
which has the students first just make another list of “Semejanzas y Diferencias.” This
should be fast. Then introduce the students to comparisons.
8. Activity 5: (5-8 min) Pass out the papers with Pablo Picasso’s picture on it. Explain
the instructions. Show the examples on the doc camera. Give them the rest of the
time to work on it. If they don’t finish than it is additional homework.
9. Homework: Finish their Picasso assignments. Work on another activity from the
medium column of the vocabulary homework assignment page (found below).
