Timely Tribute to Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King's Birthday January 15th now known as Martin Luther King Day. King was a civil rights
leader the chief spokesman for nonviolence.
You would think his words of love and equality would infuse enlightenment and positive
reactions but it was a change many didn't want to accept.
Which put this peaceful leader in danger. BCC News says “King’s house was bombed in 1956 and
lead to believe this wasn't the only threat to his life”.
NY Times says “King had been stabbed by an insane black woman in 1958”.
Seattle times being a softer article focused on Kings Success. Being a well-educated man who
won outstanding student awards, He wrote his first book in 1960.
Time Magazine designated him person of the year. He won the Noble Peace Prize in 1964. It was
in 1963 when he lead a massive march in Washington D.C
Where he delivered his now famous words “I have a dream “speech.
Although King had to leave us early on, his wife organized a Martin Luther King Jr. center for
nonviolence.
Out of all the articles I had read about the tragic story of Martin Luther King Jr. I thought the NY
Times to be interested yet hard news.
Speaking of the blood pool by Kings Body, having a crumpled up cigarette packet thrown in it.
This article also focused on the shooter being white, as that was the header.

It was the only article out of the five that mentioned sporadic shooting and bottles and bricks
being thrown at cops as well as the blood pool.
This article also gave me an ideal of the geology as is obtained a population of 550,000 40%
being Black.
ABC News spook of riots but didn't go into detail it also didn't state the number of troops that
were brought in to try and control the controversial war. It was how ever
The only one that stated a 2 month manhunt. James Earl Ray fired off a 30.06 caliber Rifle while
King was on the Balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis TN.
I'm not sure where on his body he was shoot. BCC News says it was his face, when he had bent
down and Settle times; says his neck.
The Chicago Tribune was the article that dove more into the damage of grieving riots causing 162
building to be burnt and destroyed.
I found out that 350 people were arrested and 11 died. The Tribune article was the only one that
said 3,000 troops were sent to help control the city while everyone else
Said the count was 4,000.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a mission in life and he was on a full pursuit. A strong voice that
was able to change the whole world to better mankind.
A man with many meaningful words leaving a powerful impression. Here's a few Quotes that I'd
like to share from Dr. King.

"Love is the only force capable of turning an enemy into a friend"
"The time is always right to do what is right"
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"
"A lie cannot live"
"Seeing is not always believing"
"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase"
There are so many quotes by him that are so heartwarming. A true activist!
I'm not much of a news reader but as I read the same story through different publishers I was
intrigued by the styles and mainly the focusing points.
There's at least one fact I'm able to learn from one article that’s not in the other. It's a great ideal
to read the same article through different news groups to
See how consistent the information is and what else is missing that you may want to know. As I
get older I may find myself reading into stories multiple times like this.
