The Thirteen Colonies
The Southern Colonies
Here is a list of the Southern colonies:
Virginia,
Georgia,
Maryland,
North Carolina,

& South Carolina.
Middle Colonies
Here is a list of the middle colonies:
Delaware/ New Sweden,
New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, &
New York.
Northern Colonies
Here is a list of the Northern Colonies:
Rhode Island,
New Hampshire, &
Massachusetts.
Southern Colonies
Reasons the people came:
Virginia, North & South Carolina for trade,
Maryland for religious reasons,
& for Georgia, King Joseph did not want those
people there, so he decided to make those
people leave to Georgia.
Middle Colonies
Delaware, New Jersey, & New York are for
trading reasons.
Pennsylvania is for religious reasons.
Northern Colonies
Most of the colonists came for religious
reasons.
Life in the southern colonies
Most colonists lived in poverty. At the time
there were a lot more men than women.
Many colonists suffered from Malaria, a disease
you get when an infectious mosquito bites
you.
Life in the middle colonies
People lived in very small houses, but big
farms. They grew wheat, barley, rye & other
grains & fruit. They were called the bread
basket colony because they grew lots of
wheat. They also had a big manufacturing
business they made clocks, watches, guns
locks, cloth, & hats.
Life in the Northern Colonies
Any family member that was physically able
had to do chores, or any other form of work.
It was very difficult. Most families were poor.
Children of the southern colonies
Sadly most kids in the southern colonies died
before they were born. They also had to work
really hard to help support there family.
Children of the middle colonies
Children in the middle colonies had to do work
like adults. They normally helped with live
stock. They still got to play games though.
Children Of The Northern Colonies
The Children In the Northern Colonies had a
difficult life they had to do chores, help
outside ( yard work ), & help with live stock.
Relations between colonists and
Native Americans
The Southern, Middle, & Northern colonies all
traded with the Native Americans, but the
Northern colonists had some fights with them.
What the colonists ate
The Southern colonists ate Fish such as
sturgeon and turtles.
The Middle & Northern colonists ate mostly
fish, rays, herons, gulls, oysters, & racoons.
Famous People
A famous person in the Southern Colonies was
James Oglethorpe he established a place for
people not wanted by the king.
A famous person in the Middle Colonies was
Benjamin Franklin he gave the colonists a fire
department.
A famous person in the Northern Colonies was
John Craver he was a governor.
