Hi XX, I'm afraid Caltex XX station is permanently closed. Perhaps you can change your refueling
pattern and pump at our stations on your way out to work or play instead.

Why did the Caltex XX station close down?

What is Techron?

How many grades of petrol do you carry?
 The Caltex network in Singapore offers 3 grades - Regular 92 with Techron, Premium 95 with
Techron and Platinum 98 with Techron. Caltex Platinum is an ultra-premium 98 octane petrol.
Why is Caltex Platinum with Techron more expensive than other RON98 petrol?
 Platinum 98 with Techron is an ultra-premium petrol. It contains an added ingredient; a combustion
enhancer, designed to boost combustion properties. The combustion enhancer helps to reduce
ignition time and induce faster petrol burning, so your engine can utilise energy released during
combustion more efficiently thereby helping to improve vehicle performance.
What is unique about Caltex Platinum with Techron?
 All Caltex petrol contains Techron, our patented, exclusive, specially formulated ingredient that has
proven cleaning power to enable your car to perform at its best. Platinum 98 with Techron also

antifoam and corrosion protection.

How is Techron D different from Techron?
 Techron D is specially formulated for the diesel engine while Techron is formulated for petrol (or
gasoline) engines.
Is Caltex Diesel with Techron D environmentally friendly?

OCTANE LEVEL
What is RON?
 Research Octane Number or RON is a rating of petrol. It determines the petrol’s ‘anti-knock’ quality
or resistance to pre-ignition or detonation as it burns in the combustion chamber. Knocking is
abnormal combustion.
How do I know what RON to use?
 You should also refer to the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s recommendation in your car manual
or check the back of the petrol filler lid of your car for the recommended octane rating.
 The highest octane rating may not necessarily be the best for your car. You should choose a suitable
fit for your car and driving style.
Can I mix petrol from different brands?
 It is not recommended to mix different octane levels or petrol from different companies as this
might result in sub-optimal performance. E.g. if you have added a lower-than-recommended RON in
the mixture, this can result in knocking and can cause a loss of power.
What happens when I switch octane grades?
 Typically with a full tank of the higher octane level petrol, such as Platinum 98 with Techron, you will
be able to realize its full benefits and enhanced performance in comparison to a lower octane level
petrol.
What’s the difference between the various brands of petrol?
 Petrol from different companies contains different additive technologies. We highly recommend
that you fill your tank with Caltex with Techron petrol only to see the full benefits and performance
of Techron.

How many Caltex stations are there in Singapore?
 There are 30 Caltex service stations, 26 StarMarts and three minimarts in Singapore. The network
offers products such as Caltex with Techron petrol, Caltex Diesel with Techron D and Havoline motor
oil.
Why aren’t you opening up more stations?
 We greatly appreciate your support. Unfortunately, there is currently no land available for
development as a petrol station in the (XX) area. Caltex is committed to the local market and we will
definitely look out for future opportunities.
Is Caltex pulling out of Singapore?
 No, Caltex has been in Singapore since it was established in 1936 and we are committed to the local
market. In fact, Singapore is the HQ of the Caltex brand.
