Please give us a call at 919-513-1278 to schedule an appointment for your first day of
employment. You may also email us with your availability

What is the best parking permit option for you in your new location? Would you
benefit from switching from a “C” to a “CD”, or are you now eligible to go on the
waiting list for a “B” permit? We can discuss these options with you during your
Onboarding Center appointment.
Complete the Manager's Safety Checklist with your new supervisor. This checklist
must be completed and reviewed with all new employees by their manager prior to
the commencement of work activities. A new employee is an employee who is a new
hire, transfer into a department from within the University, graduate, post doc, or
other student.

Discuss the expectations/requirements of your position with your new supervisor if
your new role is considered Essential, Key, or Mandatory.
Before employees engage in secondary employment (any work that produces income
and is performed for an entity outside of the university), you must obtain approval
from the unit manager and department head using the Secondary Employment
Approval form. The Approval form must be retained in the employee’s departmental
file.

Your ID card will be issued during your appointment with the Onboarding Center. If
you work remotely and are not located near campus, you may not need an ID card
and no action is needed.
You will be asked to set up unique questions/answers for your unity ID. If you were to
forget your unity password and would like to have it reset over the phone, the help
desk (515-HELP) will ask you these questions to verify your identity. If these questions
are not set up, you will be required to take a photo ID to the West Dunn Building to
show proof of identity in order to have your password reset.

The University offers the option to access a printable copy of your W-2 online rather
than receiving a copy via mail. Consent for an online W-2 is completed in the My
Pack Portal. Click the checkbox indicating agreement to NOT receive the paper copy,
click ‘OK’, enter the last 4-digits of your Social Security Number, then click
‘Submit.' An Onboarding Specialist will assist with this process during your
Onboarding appointment. The online W-2 access is not required. If you prefer to
receive a hard copy via mail, no action is needed.
Additional information and resources can be found at the HR Payroll web-site for
New Employees.
If you are not already signed up to receive emergency alerts via text and you are now
interested, please ensure that a personal cell phone number is listed in the personal
information section of the Employee Self Service in MyPack Portal. You can do this by
clicking on “Add Phone Number” button, in the new row choose type “Cell-Personal”,
and enter you cell phone number. Click “Save” when done.
You can opt out of Wolfalert texting by clicking on the “Update Wolf Alert
Registration” link on the Phone Numbers page in MyPack Portal and click the
checkbox next to the statement to decline Wolfalert texts.
If you are transferring from a non-benefits eligible position into a benefits eligible
position, review options here and enroll accordingly.
If you are moving into a supervisory role for the first time at NC State, it is required
that you complete this training within the first 12 months of employment into the
supervisory role (NC State employees can fulfill the requirement on campus or sign
up for a course through OSHR).
The Campus Directory or "Find People" link from the NC State home page is used to
search contact information for faculty, staff, and students on campus. If you'd like to
have your updated contact information listed in the directory, go to the link above
and click on "Update My Directory Listing (Faculty/Staff)" near the bottom of the
page. Then, login with your Unity ID and password, and update any information you'd
like to have listed in the directory. You can choose to include as much, or as little
contact information as you see appropriate for your position and your department.
You can return to the directory at any time to add/update your information.
Confirm with your new supervisor on your position’s FLSA Status. Federal law
requires employers to record hours worked, to pay an hourly wage, and to
compensate for hours physically worked over 40 in a workweek unless the position
meets specific exemption criteria. These requirements apply regardless of whether
an employee is full-time or part-time, is SHRA or EHRA or is permanent or temporary.
