CRHS South English LRC Developing Literacy Skills Mrs. Upham http://www.crsd.org English LRC Course Overview *A Graduation Project Course (Grades 11 & 12) Common Core Standards Reading Writing Vocabulary Classic & Contemporary Literature A Variety of Forms, Styles, and Modes Development and Word Study Research and Technology Usage Common Core Progress English Language Arts • A comprehensive English language arts (ELA) program that systematically addresses all four core strands of ELA – READING, WRITING, SPEAKING, LISTENING, AND LANGUAGE • Will enable students to develop key college and careerreadiness skills • Will prepare students for the rigor of Common Core standardized tests: PA LITERATURE KEYSTONE EXAM Vocabulary Goals: Vocabulary Acquisition Prepare for standardized tests such as the Keystone Exams *The program will be supplemented with vocabulary from the literature as well. Writing Criterion Online Writing Evaluation: •Web-based program that evaluates a student's writing skills • Within seconds it provides scored reporting and diagnostic feedback to both writing instructors and students. •Essays are drafted and submitted.
