BACKGROUND INFORMATION
North Park Secondary School is one of the two schools in the Peel Board to host the
International Business and Technology Program. The International Business and Technology
Program started in 2006, thus it is 3 years old. The short form for the International Business and
Technology program is the IBT Program. The International Business and Technology Program is a
business and technology program offered at North Park and is available to all students in the city
of Brampton and Mississauga in Ontario, Canada. The IBT Program enriched business and
technology courses, which include accounting, marketing, computer engineering, and computer
sciences. In order to apply for the IBT Program student are required to an individual laptop
because each classroom offers extra enhanced learning with computers. The International
Business and Technology Program accept students who display potential, optimism, motivation
and advanced academic scores in all of their classes.
North Park was founded in 1978. North Park is a high school for grade 9 through 12. North
Park Secondary School is a very successful school and it has no violence at the current time.
North Park Secondary School’s mascot is a Viking and Viking is their team name as well. The
name Viking stands for many variety motives for North Park. North Park will develop into one of
the most excellent schools in the Peel Board because it has accomplished students and teacher
respect. The school has five main belongings that make the school so be noticeable and those
five things are respect, achievement, diversity, citizenship, and responsibility. North Park’s
religion affiliation is public and the language that is being spoken at this school is English. There
are 106 teachers and 1374 students at North Park Secondary School. North Park’s focal colours
are blue, white, and orange.
North Park’s principle is Pat Geale and the vice principle is Abedeen Remtulla. The area
trustee is Beryl Ford who shares the news around the school like, teachers, students, and the
principles or in the community such as, parents, or in the community who are working at North
Park and the superintendent of the school is Scott Moreash. North Park is located at 10 North
Park Drive, Brampton, Ontario, L6S 3M1. The phone number of North Park is (905) 456-1906 and
the fax number is (905) 456-3696. The school’s website is northparkss.peelschools.org and the
field office/ family of schools is North/North Park. The school number of North Park is 930660.
North Park provides a safe, caring environment where students are challenged to achieve
excellence with commitment, pride and respect. Staff and students work hard to promote
community awareness, cultural acceptance, global consciousness and equality. North Park’s rich
diversity is always appreciated and celebrated. Students are encouraged and expected to respect
each other at North Park. North Park has many extracurricular activities after school and during
3rd and 4th lunch. The school encourages students to participate in activities such as hockey,
basketball, baseball, tennis, football and a wide range of other clubs.
Current Situation
This year North Park will have the first IBT graduation since the IBT Program has started.
Many students at North Park are receiving rewards and certificates in categories such as respect,
achieving, diversity, citizenship, and responsibility. The school North Park was and still will focus
on promoting fairness, respect, and inclusiveness. North Park is a very captivating school and it
has no violence at the current time.
Research Method
A primary survey was used to test how many students would like to have access to candy
at North Park in the Common Corner Store. Some randomly selected students and peers were
tested in various classes and schools to find out if they would like to purchase candies at North
Park Secondary School at the Common Corner Store. Questions were asked online by
surveymonkey.com and their responses were submitted to the inbox of surveymonkey.com. Six
questions were asked including “How much money do you bring to school every day?”, “What
type of candy would you buy at the Commons Corner Store?”, “How much money do you spend
on lunch every day?” , “Would you buy candy from the school store if you chose what you
wanted, put however much you wanted into a bag, and then the price would be calculated by
weight (our employees would put the candy in the bag for you)”, “Do you think selling open
candy is good idea?” and finally, “How much money do you spend on bulk candy at regular
stores?” This research will assist to determine what candies will be sold at what price.
Product
Excellence service and good products are the most important requirement in any business
in the food industry. Having high principles and only serving the optimum of products will entitle
a business to an imposing reputation. To achieve a prospering business, Sugar Rush will use only
premium products, and make sure our products are clean and are organized.
Sugar Rush will sell a diversity of candy with the most care and with quality products.
After completing market research and collecting data by surveys, a decision has been made that
there will be sour keys, Smarties, chocolate coins, double bubble, gummy bears, candy heart,
nerds, Mentoes, ring pops, skittles, and lollipops. We will restock fresh candies every other day
and there will be an appraisal of the stock for loot bags for different sizes (small, medium, and
large). While selling candies, the delivery will be high quality and we will make our products safe
to satisfy our customers. To run Sugar Rush we need to follow certain procedures, these
procedures will insure clean and top quality products. The procedures are washing hands,
washing all surfaces being used, being organized and prepare to do job, cough or sneeze into
sleeve and have long hair tied at the back. These precautions and procedures are important to
run a reputable and healthy business.
With past experience and overall satisfaction, purchases will be made from the Bulk Store.
We will sell candies to all students and staff all week. When buying candy there are many factors
that will catch customers’ eyes and the factors are flavour, colour, and decoration. Serving
products that are consistently pleasing to the customer will ensure that it remains over time and
will build up a good reputation. Having a reputable business is the best way of maintaining sales
and to run.
Price
To sell a product successfully and effectively we must set a price fit for the product. Many
ideas and thoughts that will go into the decision of price are the cost to produce one unit, what
profit in intended to be made, what is the demand for the product, who is your target market,
what is your competition’s prices and how new or useful is the product. All are key features in
formative of the selling price of a product or service, so they are important to understand
otherwise the business will not succeed.
The Commons Corner Store will allow for no need of further office or storage space as we
will use what we have. What we need to purchase the following before the start up of the
business: a candy scoop to poor candies into loot bags, bags: small, medium, and large loot bags.
For small bag there are 1 lbs of candy and the price is $1.39, in medium bag there are 2 lbs and
the price is $1.99, and in large bag there are 3 lbs of candy and the price is $2.25.
Conclusion
The purpose of the marketing plan was to reopen the Common Corner Store. The Sugar
Rush is the product that is going to be sold at the North Park Secondary School. North Park has
been open for 31 years, the school colours are blue, white, and orange and the school’s mascot is
Vikings. There will be variety of candies, such as sour keys, chocolate coins, butterscotch button
candy, nerds, smarties candy, gumballs, gummy bears, double bubble, sour gummy peach hearts
candy, candy blox, candy necklace, lollipops, sour power belts candy, candy heart, Good and
plenty, starlight mints, cinnamon hearts, ring pops, skittles. They were researched and decided by
taking surveys. Students and teachers are required to bring money every day because we are
selling candy every single day. The money students should bring could be between in $2.00 to
$2.25.
The product Sugar Rush will be sold at Common Corner Store and the channel of
distribution will be producer to consumer, with no middlemen. The product will be advertised by
posters and announcements. The AIDA (attention, interest, desire, and action) is the formula
used for promotions. The Sugar Rush candy is extremely magnetism that everyone will enjoy
because it is new product that everyone will enjoy.
Purpose
The purpose of this project is to start the Common Corner Store again at North Park. The
Sugar Rush’s purpose is to restart the Common Corner Store with enjoyment to students and
teachers by bringing variety of candy.
Executive Summary
Sugar Rush is a profitable organization that is looking to take up business inside the
Common Corner Store at North Park. Inside the Sugar Rush there is vast amount of people fitting
into a target market.
The target market is adolescence, having the highest percentage of disposable income.
The Sugar Rush is a great target market of variety of candy that will be served at North Park
Secondary School and are a novelty item as there is no competition within the school.
The Sugar Rush will sell variety of candy for diverse sizes and dissimilar prices. The sizes of
bags are small, medium, and large: the small will have 1 lb candy and the price is $1.39, medium
has 2 lbs candy and the price is $1.99, and large has 3 lbs of candy and the price is $2.25. If we
sell into pieces we will make a lot of profit every single day. We will have 61 or 81 lbs of candy
ordered every day.
Sugar Rush is devoted to customer contentment, the goal being 100 percent approval rate
with products so every attempt is made to ensure safeness and quality.
Promotion
Promotion is one of the 4’Ps of marketing. It is a way that allows the target market to have
knowledge of the product. Promotion is a way to attract people to the product. Promotion is
essential to have high sales and to pull a strategy which is going to be used for promotion. The
producer is going to promote the product to the target market to create the demand. The
product is going to be advertised by posters and announcement.

The posters above are going to be used for the advertisements. The posters are eye catching so
that they could grab the attention of possible consumers. The posters should create attention
and grab their interest so that the target market can have information about the product. The
target market will have an interest for this product because it has variety of candy to choose. This
design will work in errand of the producer because if the posters clutch the concentration of the
market than they have created a thought in the person’s mind. It will also create desire for them
because it will attract them to the products to try them. The low price will also attract customers
to buying the product.
The announcement promotion will be similar, but it will generate a curiosity for the
audience. The announcement will promote the product because it will catch interest, attention,
and will make consumers to buy quickly.
There will be variety of candy that customers can choose from what they would like to
have in their bag. An event will be hosted before the candy start selling at the Common Corner
Store. This event will be for one day and both of the lunches. It will include all types of candy and
possible consumers will be provided free candy, so that they can have idea of how the product
the taste. There will be a lot of constructive effects of this promotion. This will allow the target
consumers that do not want to buy any type of product to taste the products and be
overwhelmed by it. This will also draw more consumers, so that the sales of the candies stay high
over long period of time. This will be publicity for the product, so that the product is well known.
This will be a promotional event mostly to attract the consumers.
The promotional formula used was the AIDA (attention, interest, desire, and action)
formula. The techniques of the promotion allow the advertiser to attract the possible market and
earn profit. The promotion techniques will be used to promote the product. The techniques will
reach the target market, which are the students and teachers at North Park.
The promotion of a product is very important. It can determine the sales of the business.
The promotional ideas will be very helpful for the sales.
Place
Place plays a very important role in selling a good or services. It is about having the
product on the right location at the perfect time to be bought by consumers. This is because
when selling a product because it can have an effect on the sales.
The product is going to be sold at North Park, so the location should be where it can be
noticed and easily be found. The place for selling the product will be at the Common Corner Store
near the main office and cafeteria. This place is very beneficial for the product because of
numerous reasons. The Common Corner Store is located at the Common Corner which is well
known to students as it is in the main entry way. During lunch it is usually packed with students
except during classes. There is a large congregation of students and teachers in this area, so it is a
great place to have the business.
The location is very organized and is closely associated to the business marketing policy.
The channel of distribution will be producer to consumers and there will be no middlemen. This
place going to be a direct route and this channel of distribution will be picked for many purposes.
This product is only available at North Park only. The primary constructive tip of this distribution
is that the producer understands the consumer better. In other relationship, the producer cannot
interact with the consumer, but this relationship allows the producer to cooperate with
consumers. This allows the producer to know the judgment of the buyer and there are many
advantages to this. The producer can know the consumers and have a buying-selling relationship
with them, but the consumer can directly give opinion or complain. In relationship this is not
possible because there is middlemen, such as wholesalers, retailers or agents, however this
relationship the consumer can tell the producer the preference of the consumer. This permits the
consumer not to feel anxious or dissatisfied because every small detail can be taken care of
easily. The producer can also take for suggestions or the consumers can give the suggestions and
it allows the producers to know what the consumer wants. For example, there can be an
introduction of many other candies in the future. The producer can know the opinion of the
consumer and it can allow them to successfully introduce the new candies that could possible
increase the sales. The relationship can also benefit in profit because the product sold to the
consumer can be sold at a cheaper price than other relationships. The consumer is always
pleased with the low price and the producer is content with the amount of profit. If there are
other relationships, the price is decided by the middlemen for buying and selling. This allows both
the middlemen and the producer to make profit and the relationship can also make the
producers have peace of mind. This is the generation of information in addition to the force of
the producers is to make the product according the buying price and preferences. The producers
have to say no because the producer want to make profit, so if the middlemen are providing a
low buying price the producers will use cheap things to make the product. This will make the
buyer loose the respect of the producer to decide the selling price that they are comfortable
with. This allows the consumers not to be disappointed at them.
