With your host, Mr. Meddaphore (And remember, you can’t spell ‘simile’ without ‘smile’! ) Love is a Battlefield – Pat Benatar We are young heartache to heartache we stand No promises no demands Love is a battlefield. We are strong no-one can tell us we're wrong Searching our hearts for so long Both of us knowing Love is a battlefield. You're begging me to go then making me stay Why do you hurt me so bad? It would help me to know do I stand in your way Or am I the best thing you've had? Believe me believe me I can't tell you why But I'm trapped by your love and I'm chained to your side. We are young heartache to heartache we stand no promises, no demands love is a battlefield When I'm losing control will you turn me away or touch me deep inside' And when all this gets old will it still feel the same? There's no way this will die But if we get much closer I could lose control And if your heart surrenders you'll need me to hold. We are young heartache to heartache we stand Battlefield Jordin Sparks (performer) Don't try to explain your mind I know what's happening here One minute it's love And suddenly it's like a battlefield One word turns into a war Why is it the smallest things that tear us down? My world's nothing when you don't I'm not here without a shield Can't go back now Both hands, tied behind my back with nothing Oh no, these times when we climb so fast to fall again Why we gotta fall for it now I never meant to start a war You know I never wanna hurt you Don't even know what we're fighting for Why does love always feel like a battlefield A battlefield, a battlefield? Why does love always feel like a battlefield A battlefield, a battlefield? Why does love always feel like Can't swallow our pride Neither of us wanna raise that flag If we can't surrender then we both gonna lose What we had, oh no Both hands tied behind my back with nothing Oh no, these times when we climb so fast to fall again. I don't wanna fall for it now Chorus We could pretend that we are friends tonight (Oh, oh, oh) And in the morning we'll wake up and we'll be alright 'Cause baby, we don't have to fight And I don't want this love to feel like Chorus Identify the following metaphors and similes: “Love is a battlefield.” ~ Pat Benatar “Our love is like water, pinned down and abused for being strange.” – Live “The Way Kathie Lee needs Regis, that’s the way I need Jesus.” – Kanye West "He was screaming like my wife." – Mike Tyson "Fear is your best friend or your worst enemy. It's like fire. If you can control it, it can cook for you; it can heat your house. If you can't control it, it will burn everything around you and destroy you. If you can control your fear, it makes you more alert, like a deer coming across the lawn.” – Mike Tyson "To sit here at the same table with my hero, George W. Bush...I feel like I'm dreaming. Somebody pinch me. You know what, I'm a pretty sound sleeper, that may not be enough...Somebody shoot me in the face." – Stephen Colbert “Open wide baby bird, 'cause momma's got a big fat night crawler of Truth. Here comes The Colbert Report!” – Stephen Colbert Your task for tonight Step 1: Find a song that has at least two different similes.
