Description: Sections from Chapters 1-6 will be discussed.
Rules
 Calculators may not be used when taking Quizzes, Midterms, or the Final Exam,
unless specified by the instructor.
 Attendance will be taken daily.
 Homework: There will be homework assigned almost every week.
 Quizzes: There will be 15-20 minutes quizzes given in class almost every week.
 Midterms: There will be two fifty-minute in class exams given. The schedule will be
announced. Tentative schedule: First Midterm is scheduled in the 4th week and Second
Midterm is scheduled in the 8th week.
 Final Exam: The schedule will be announced (June 6-11).
 Always check Blackboard for information about your grades, exams and assignments.
Grading
 For your final grade the lowest quiz and homework scores will be dropped. After that

 A final average of 90-100% will assure a grade of A- or A,
80-89% will assure a grade of B-,B or B+,
70-79% will assure a grade of C-,C or C+,
60-69% will assure a grade of D- or D.
Homework: Hand-in homework assignments will be posted in the Assignments section of
Blackboard together with suggested exercises from your textbook. If you wish to succeed in
this course, work most of the suggested as well as the required homework.
Make-up Policy: There will be no make-up quizzes, midterms or final exam, unless
reasonable excuses are presented.
Other info: Always ask your instructor about your performance in the class and attend office
hours for discussions. For any questions regarding your grades or math, please do not hesitate
to contact the instructor.
General Education: This course was designed following the guidelines of the University of
Cincinnati General Education Program. It satisfies, or partially satisfies the Quantitative
Reasoning distribution requirement.
Academic Integrity Policy: The University Rules, including the Student Code of Conduct,

integrity will be enforced. Any violation of these regulations, including acts of plagiarism or
cheating, will be dealt with on an individual basis according to the severity of the misconduct.

Withdrawal Deadline – May, 26, is set by the University as the last day to withdraw from a
class. In case that shall happen, the instructor will be required to verify whether or not you
minimally participated in the class. Although the instructor will try his best to respond
accurately, however, in the absence of any evidence to the contrary, the instructor will have to
verify that you did not minimally participate. Ways for you to provide clear evidence of your
presence in the class include taking at least one quiz and taking the midterm exam.
