Also, if you access the databases outside of school, you will need to use the usernames and passwords to log-on. Use the “Literary Criticism” tab to avoid reading through all selections. Click on the citation icon and select MLA to copy—be sure to reverse indent. Ignore the labeled citation icon which is on the left. The citation information is done and found under the tab “External Resources: Cite This Item.” Select the proper form. Gale Resource Center Login ID: wildcats Areas to Use: Citation: Select the “Literature Resource Center”. Enter the author’s last name or the title of the work. Once the selections come up, click on the “Literature Criticism” or other tabs to narrow your choices. Also, click on the “Gale Literary Index” tab and search by author or title. Set up a good internet search when you use Google. Remember to use the “+” and “-“ symbols to narrow down the search. This engine searches for and ranks pages based on their content and relevance. Other choices and suggestions are offered as well on the right-hand side. Enter your search: use the author’s last name and/or part or all of the title of the novel. See the next two illustrations for examples. For easier viewing you could click on the “Literary Criticism” tab which will pull up only the articles dealing with criticism rather than all results -- as seen below. Citation Information: Click on the HTML or PDF Full Text next to the Citation Icon. Information for the citation will then be displayed at the beginning of the article ready to be placed in correct form.
